If you fly from Sacto and rent a car, the drive takes just long enough so that you arrive at La Ventana to the sight of a hundred kites flying, but by the time you've pulled out your kite gear, suited up and run down to the beach, everyone is landing and the wind is dying.

The wind down there works bankers' hours (or should I say contractors' hours . 10 to 4.

If you time is your limiting factor, you can get an extra day or two of riding in by flying to La Paz and sharing a cab. It's nice to have a car, though.

Bob,

I will be sure to save you some beer. The good news is, after I leave, your riding will be much more impressive for the locals. I just talked to Sheldon and he's planning on arriving just before I do so we'll keep the river-stoke rolling.

(As for the adult entertainment? I don't think MG would approve!)

Paul, you're supposed to show up just in time for your friend to hand-off his kite to you, the weary traveller!

Kiting Los Barriles, Baja

Post by kitedancer » Sun Nov 20, 2005 8:53 pm

You can fly into San Jose, rent a car, and drive a little over an hour to Los Barriles.

The kiters that I met, said Los Barriles was better than La Ventana.

Ciao,
Katrina

Except that about 20 of my friends live in LaV! I am stopping there on the way thru if it's windy though.
