Well, the old timers might remember that we actually had a chained gate at the 3rd upper launch before - 12 years ago. It looks like the open gate got abused as it was abused before and we have to pay the price for it.
Who had the good connections to the driving range so we can open up a discussion with them to see how we can get to an acceptable solutions for both sides? I recalled the number lock did not work back then and certainly will not work now as we have 10x more beach goers now compared to then.

Maybe we could ask the driving range to keep the gate open during business hours? Maybe mid-summer it'd be nice to have it open later but as a compromise if you're planning to kite late, you park lower launch?

It's a good thing that fence is massive and stops from people from going over it...

This was my thought - does a ~4' tall fence really prevent people from vandalizing cars?

Re: aaand back again ... locked gate at 3rd upper launch
Why on earth would someone vandalize or break into a car and then escape to the bike path when it is a PARKING LOT that leads out to a street where they can take off in a getaway car?
Irony would be if a burglar was breaking into a car and a good samaritan going by on the bike path dropped their bike and tried to run over and stop it only to be confronted with a locked gate that blocked their intervention

Well it was still locked, and still very short on Saturday.
