I had a close call today, so I guess, better to have somebody watching over you. I will post directions and guidelines on the locations page.

Re: Pittsburgh Launch
It would be an excellent progressive Kite project putting an easy ramp style water access at Treasure Island. Big grassy launch and landing area with rolling mounds to block the wind but not
block a clear path to the water. Maybe it could pull together all the extreme water sports user groups (Kiter, SUP, Windsurfer, Kayak, and small boats.) who use this wonderful resource(the bay).

Re: Pittsburgh Launch
I'm worried that the uninitiated will just go to this spot, kite, get injured, and have the parks and recreation close access to us. It will be discovered at some point, so might as well educated everybody so you can help preserve the spot.
You have to dedicate time to kite in this spot because access point takes a bit of work.

Shuttles available upwind from Pittsburg and Sherman all summer. Come see what kiting west has to offer.

Re: Pittsburgh Launch
I like the Treasure Island idea - seriously how do we all band together and make that one step toward being a little more real this year?
Right now trying to kite there is like Escape from LA meets the Hills Have Eyes

Re: Pittsburgh Launch
Thanks to those providing info on the access site west of the Pittsburg launch, especially the excellent info provided by reyrivera. Unfortunately it's about 3.5 miles on the water between the two sites, and that makes a bailout option either way for these launches dubious.
I'm looking forward to kiting Secret Spot someday.

Re: Pittsburgh Launch
regarding treasure island kiting.
i recently read about the ti redevelopment plan which includes reinforcing the seawall with concrete and putting a wide apron around the shore of parks (up to 300 acres). hopefully there will be some water access ramps installed in appropriate spots.
