yeah, the problem with classifieds is people price items too high. They have an emotional attachment and/or think that they should be able to sell them for more than they're worth because advertised new kite prices are crazy high. In reality, many people can in fact figure out how to get deals on new gear and are not going to pay much for used. People can hate on eBay because of the fees, but the beauty is it's economics 101 and the price you sell it for is exactly the value. I'd like to figure out how to add proxy bidding to our classifieds someday...

Re: Crissy Swap?
Supply/demand economics.
As you said, people can get attached to pricing an item based on an emotional value, + reflecting on the expected fair market value - based on their research.
I bought 3 kites, last years models in May for half their respective MRP, even if used a little but in very good condition.
I look forward to a good auction, and market forces take into action.
Not many people advertising on BAK. Much more on iKitesurf. Can you get them to advertise on BAK, with the 'bidding' idea??

Re: Crissy Swap?
Theoretically you can already bid on items posted in classifieds. You can comment directly on the listing, or just PM the seller. I think a more obvious bidding system may help, but it probably won't convert anyone not currently listing on BAK.
I had a friend sell a complete package on classifieds in less than an hour. He tried kiteboarding, bought some used gear, but never took it up. When it came time to move, he wanted his gear gone. He put in on classifieds for reasonable prices, and someone was at his house within the hour. Everyone has their preferred method (eBay, BAK, ikitesurf, and even Craigslist) but the beauty of our classifieds is that they are local and you can develop real relationships with fellow kiters. You're also not going to get screwed with stolen or abused gear. The drawback is market saturation, which means lower prices (for sellers). Buyers just need to negotiate.
Hoping to make some improvements to the classifieds (and other areas of the site) soon. So for now enjoy the Crissy swap!
