La Ventana Lodging/Lessons X-mas and New Year's

Post by erikabike » Sat Aug 23, 2014 10:37 am

Hi Folks! My husband and I are about ready to pull the trigger on La Ventana from 12/28-1/5. We have never been there. We are both newbies and have had some lessons, but are no where near independent. We'd like to be after this trip. First, what are folks recommendations for lodging? We are looking at Palapas Ventana. Only downfall there seems to be no communal kitchen, but it looks chill and it seems there would be a nice social element. Who knows if they have a new year's party or if the overall location is good in relation to town, or is there some place better for vibe, quality, amenities, food, etc?

The second question is who do you recommend for lessons for us? We'd be stoked to have jetski assisted lessons and experienced safety oriented folks. A jet ski definitely helps if you need a rescue and adds confidence for me while I'm flopping around in the water trying to get my kite back into the air! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Muchas Gracias! Erika

Hey Erika, my fiance and I have made Baja our annual thanksgiving trip (got tired of fighting over who's parents we visit:) Tim @ Palapas is great. I don't remember there being a shared kitchen, but honestly you won't need one. Tim's cooks prepare amazing breakfasts and lunches included in your stay, allowing you to focus only on kiting. The social element is found on the beach or at his bar after sessions with amazing margaritas. For dinner there are a couple great little restaurants, super cheap and amazing mexican food.

You can book lessons directly through Tim or my fiance has also worked with Dante at http://www.kiteboardingbajaschool.com/ he has jet skis and travels between Los Barilles and La Ventana.

Have fun and PM me with any specific questions. Happy to help! Kyle

If Kyle's suggestions don't work out, I enjoyed my lessons with Elevation Kiteboarding (http://elevationkiteboarding.com/). They use jetskis and are very close to Palapas Ventana.

It looks like they use Kitemasters and KiteBoarding Baja as their in house lessons. Any thoughts on those outfitters would be helpful as well!

Hey Erika if you guys like cold mango margaritas, wifi, free daily downwinder shuttle to the hot springs, compressed air fills and killer food then youll love Palapas Ventana. We have an onsite kiteschool - kiteboarding baja- with 2 instructors jetskis and quads - we rent gear and also sell Naish , Liquid Force, and Wainman Hawaii.
For those ocassional no wind days weve got 3 boats to take you to our island for fishing scuba or snorkeling- Dante is the head of our kiteschool and can give u more info. We now have dinner available every night as well and are walking distance to all the hotspots in LV- parties? We love em and will be hosting 8 band nights this winter! Negra midelo on tap - yep we hot it
