Hello to kiteboarders in San Francisco
hello to all,
i am daniel from germany and i just arrived in sf. unfortunately my kitegear got lost on it`s way but i hope that i will get it soon, so i can go out and play...
since i`ve never been kiteboarding in the bay area i am looking for people who show me the best spots!
i stay at my sisters place in bernal heights and will give 3rd ave a try but also want to catch some waves at waddel...
any other suggestions?!
who has time and is willing to give me a few hints?
I would really appreciate it and would do the same, if someone is around the german coast...
thanx and greetz,
daniel

Daniel,
Hopefully you will get your gear soon and get out to hit the water this week. The winds should be cooperative at a few local spots around the Bay.
Chances are good to kite at 3rd Avenue, Crissy Field, Waddell, Alameda and Berkeley.
Do you have a car? We can post forecast info here daily from local sources to help guide you, as I'm sure you want to make the best of your time here.
Post more info about your level and if you have a car and take some time to check the info on the local spots which you can find here on the site under "Locations" on the home page.
Cheers,
Ollie

helllo ollie,
good to hear from someone who lives in san francisco!
i would consider myself as an intermediate kiter, since i can go upwind and do some jumps with rotations. loaded backroll just works with waves up to now...
i also have a car, so i will be able to get to the spots around san francisco.
just checked out kitebeaches.com and the locations on this website.
seems to be a good place for kiteboarding!
also signed up at ikitesurf, what seems to be very helpfull too but i am still not sure where to go depending on the conditions/winddirections.
hope that i can pick up my gear tomorow at the airport(10 and 14 vegas and two boards), if not i will check out 3rd ave anyway, because it is pretty close to where i am staying...
hope my english is not too bad...

Daniel,
you missed a really good day yesterday in alameda. What a surprise that the wind became so nice! Check the collection of free wind recources under:
https://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/viewforum.php?f=16
For 3rd you can always check if someone is out with the 3rd cam.
http://www2.labs.agilent.com/Ken_Poulto ... camh.shtml
Make sure that you make yourself familiar with the guidlines for the different bay spots. You can find them under
https://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/viewforum.php?f=23
Make sure you start form the UPPER launch/beach at 3rd if you go out the first time. The lower beach is horribly gusty. If you are used to gernam "inland-lake kiting" than this is already "normal wind" ...
Enjoy, K

thanks for the information,
i really appreciate it!
too bad that delta airlines is still hiding my gear somewhere...
just traveled thousand of miles to be damned to go sightseeing instead of hitting the water.
this wasn`t my plan, but at least san francisco does offer a lot of nice and beautiful places!
i loved this place, when i came here a couple years ago...
since i am living right next to the baltic and northrtn sea, i am not used to gusty winds.
back at home it normally just gets gusty if it is getting close to 30 knots, what always ends up in water rodeo.
seems like i have to keep calling delta airlines to tell them that $ 25,- per day for necessities are nothing compared to go kiteboarding
hope to see you all on the water soon...

another option
Missing days this time of the year is brutal, as you don't know how many more good wind days + daylight we have left.....If I was in your shoes, I would call Evan at Live2kite.com and find out what stuff he can loan/rent to you while you wait for Delta to finish what they should have done in the first place.
How about a joke?
A businesswoman comes up to airline ticket counter and asks the agent to "send my bags to Atlanta, NY and Dallas". The ticket agent says "we can't do that, you are going to Miami"
The lady says "I'm sure you can do it, you did it last week.
Thank you, I"m here all week ;-)
Good winds + waves, Zeev.
