Oh Yeah!
It was great! ... and only one jackass needed to be pulled off the other beach (Me). I swear! I kite there all the time and thought I was being slick by hitting the other shore for better breeze for the ride in.... [-X
The tourist that finds my waterproof camera will end up with some great shots of all of us rounding Alcatraz... I lost it in a nasty wipeout near TI
Se ya on the next one

Oh that was good.
Thanks to all who joined the fun and took the recommended routing such as not boasting err I mean boosting, upwind of sailboats and ferries! I hope the pilot of that yellow nitro kicks in with the tale of getting a five point ringer on the stack of a red and white ferry, complete with a free ferry ride/body drag... There has got to be a lesson learned for all of us there.
Yeah GWVTZ - Good day for lessons learned on that reach angle from His Lordships... my kite stayed dry only because I dropped into the water early and body dragged the last section. That and Sonny sprinting to catch my kite when it dropped like a stone. (Thank You Sonny!)
For those of you who are only getting to read about the KWS downwinder...bide your time
Word is: Next Spring We Get To Do It Again! =D>

Re: Oh Yeah!
Glad to hear only one came in on the frontage road beach. As one who has spent a lot of time there, it's always disconcerting to see anyone come in on that beach as it's avoidable if you play your cards right and always my fear that the wrong set of circumstances will occur involving the public or traffic, but hey, I'm just being protective, proactive and paranoid.GWVT2 wrote:It was great! ... and only one jackass needed to be pulled off the other beach (Me). Would like to hear more about the ferry, though. ;)

Heck yeah.
I feel bad about the whole thing, especially since I kite there at least once a week. I like to think I am a responsible kiter who knows his limitations, how to stay out of trouble, and when to pack it in.
I dropped my kite at least 3 line lengths away and wound my lines. As Ollie said that area is a risky bitch. Berkeley is my primary spot and that was the first time I have ever ended up there. It really was a total accident and I was desperately trying to get back into the wind since it shut off on me in the middle. I tried dragging back up-wind but there was barely enough to keep the kite in the air.
Ollie is right, that beach needs to be avoided at all costs. But it is a better alternative to the rocks!

Nice sailing by all invololved. Mr. Keagy's loop broke resulting in a altercation with the Red & White ferry.
