New to the bay, looking to carpool

Post by bryguy1300 » Sun Aug 05, 2012 9:11 pm

Hey everyone,

Just landed on my feet here in SF and I'm looking forward to some steady winds and riding. Its looking like I'm not going to keep my car, so I'm wondering if anyone is interested in carpooling to Alameda or 3rd Ave. I definitely can chip in for gas.

Alternatively if people have recommendations on using public transit to get to Alameda I'd appreciate your tips.

Looking forward to meeting the kiters here,
Bryan

Get zipcar. It works great if you're only going out to ride once or twice a week.
More than that, keep your car.
I did alameda by transit when I first started. It's a pain in the neck but doable with 1 kite, 1 board.
Then I switched to zipcar. Way more convenient.
Now I have a car ( I moved to a neighborhood where parking is easy).
Welcome to the bay!

Harness: Manera Union.

What neighborhood in SF?

Public transit to Alameda would be.... difficult.

If you're coming from Mission, I can rideshare. PM me if you are interested.

Also, there's a subforum for rideshares.

3rd Ave has wind way more often than Alameda - that's where you'll want to go. Also, the traffic across the Bay Bridge is much worse in the afternoon than going down 101 to 3rd if you do manage to get a ride.
