I've never heard this suggestion before. What are the fins for? Are you talking about board fins, or scuba fins for swimming back?

Haven't needed the radio yet
I haven’t seen any suggestions for riding with a life jacket/ impact vest. Is that just a no brainer, or does the gear generally provide enough buoyancy in downed kite scenario?

I always wear an impact vest with good flotation when riding at Crissy.
