A Better Kiteboarding Pump

Post by sc-surfer » Mon Dec 12, 2011 12:55 pm

I use a Teflon based lube that is specifically made for plastics. Specifically plastic gear boxes etc. Should be able to find it at a good hardware or hobby store. It is harmless for most plastics/rubbers. Never had it hurt anything.

The silicone should be ok to but the propellant in the can might be harmful.

Thanks, Monte! I was wondering WTF was up with my silicone spray eating rubber seals!

What brand/product is the teflon stuff you're using? Triflow?

Sunchips....you Da/Man

It's all about your form/and a well maintained pump...The best thing you can do for your session and yourself is lay out your lines first (key) this way your bending over to grab your lines and walking up and down the beach ..then put on your wetsuit (key) this works the back and legs if you ware booties that is a bit of a workout.. now your warmed up to pump up your kite.

Before you hook up the hose to the kite .. take a good look at it (key) and pull the stem up and down.. a few times.. no not that one.. just make sure it is working right ? if not don,t use it !! ask a bro if you can use there pump ? wait (Stop) take the time to make sure there pump is working correctly.. if that one is not working get the hell out of there the wind gods are trying to tell you something..? :o ?

I'm just kidding of course.. but to make a point, it only takes a second to tweak your back and then it's over anyway...take my word on this.. I live across the street from a launch and I have seen this many times can't miss it ..hand on back bro carrying the gear.. do your squats over the pump so you don't get glued in the prone position.. you never want this to happen on a 20+ day so take this post as a clue for you to kite your ass off or until your so stoked that you can't get that silly smile off your face.

Max be with you " " do your squats/or get glued/ its up to you.

If your pump is not working, find Ollies bag...

Tri-flow might be ok. We use it on bike parts some of which are plastic/rubber and seems ok. However, it's very light and won't stick to well. A grease will be better. Can't remember the name of the stuff I use. I'll try to dig it out for you.
