Hi all. Looking for some feedback on boosting sent airs. I'm getting about 5-15 feet but not consistently. I did a search but didn't find any topics on the subject. I'm sure there are some but I don't have the right search terms.
Anyway, here's what I'm doing now. Any advice would be great.
Build up speed by edging hard with the kite in the power zone.
Send the kite hard to the top/just passed the top of window.
While sending kite edge hard upwind until kite pretty much yanks me off the water.
Questions: does that sound right?
Is my inconsistent height a timing thing?
How low should I fly the kite before sending it?
How far past 12 can I/should I send it?
Landings are going fine. I just want more consistent height.
Thanks!!

Re: Sent airs.
I'm still perfecting mine, but here's what I've learned:
You don't have to send it very far.
Start around 10 and send to 12 - you can go further, but 12 is enough. If you start it too low, you won't have enough power to go high. If you send it too far back, your landing will suck.
The faster you send it, the harder it will pull - but if it's a "fast" send... you have to be pro-active to not let it go way past 12.
Bear downwind a bit before starting the whole process, to gain speed. Also in my experience the kite doesn't just yank you off unless you allow it to. If you want to you can keep your edge through the whole thing, or at least try to and ruin the jump. You have to actively release your edge (even jump a little if your legs are compressed) at just the right time.

I'm working on these myself.
To start - bear off down wind a little to get speed then edge and bring the kite to 10 (or 2). Then load up and send the kite. Edge really hard into the wind and release (pop).
Don't overfly the kite. Pull in on the bar.
I find the biggest factor is to getting a good pop with the board pointing nearly upwind. Snapping off the tail makes a big difference. If these dont come together at the same time err on the side of popping first - chop tends to ruin the pop so if a kicker is coming use it and send the kite quickly after.
I read somewhere that your horizontal momentum is converted to vertical so think about how that happens - it's in the load and pop. More speed equals higher jump if you can convert it.
Sonny is the master at big floaty airs I assume he has some tips :-)

Re: Sent airs.
Send it from 10 to 1, bring it quickly back to 12 while sheeting in

Re: Sent airs.
Make sure your adjuster is just set right that you dont get pulled out of the water too early when you send it. But just enough depower as you need the maximum pull if you power up. On my kite its within 2-3 cm to have it just right.
build speed - speed - speed - but controlled, go slightly downwind for that
send it, 10-1 should be good
Power up the bar just before you edge hard
make sure you get JUST the right time to edge hard with the board, just so you edge hardest when you get the biggest pull from our kite. For even longer hang time do a "dead man" by swinging yourself upside down.
Biggest jumps are when you time everything together with a ramp of a wave. The problem at 3rd is to build a good speed in the chop while keeping everything under control.
Mostly the problem is the timing. Thats why I dont like to change kites and I need to reset the timing and get used to it.

Re: Sent airs.
for big jumps, timing is key. Proper timing of load and pop with the sending of the kite will maximize your air.
My technique: Try to edge all the power of the kite into your lines and release it all at the same time during a gust while sending the kite.
Ramps will add a little height, but timing has to be perfect too. At 3rd try to release between the chop or on the back of the chop coming in.

Re: Sent airs.
I can get up there it is the hang time and graceful landing that needs improvement next. Redirect timing. Do you keep the bar sheeted in al the way through the redirect and landing? I don't want to be a teabag anymore.

long-ass load and pop video. I didn't watch the whole thing, but maybe it will help.
