I don't think the girls can donate any funds from "Consession Moneys" unless it is approved by the EBRP first.. as a % of there money belongs to the park..I also think there could be a legal issue if the girl that was hurt.. trys to go after the park system..I do know you are always the first one to step up to the plate and for this I'm proud to know you as a fellow kiter.

I remember back when I ran the windsurf store a women came up to me and asked me why I did not donate to a fund for a windsurfer that was hurt at waddell because he did not unhook from his harness in the surf and got his foot stuck in the strap.. I tryed to tell the women that he bought his gear from me.. and they already tryed to say it was a gear problem that hurt the guy. Lucky for me there was a local guy there that I new and he was the guy that told the true story.. A bunch of his bro's told him to go after the big money from the brand name on the board and sail it back fired and he went to jail for lieing in court.

I know how you feel bro.. but it is not BS .. This is why I did not sign on as a concessionaire for the EBRP.. as you and I deal with are own "money & decisions" this is not possible with there contract. I read that contract and unless it was modified it will read the same.

I think anyone can donate labor and materials.. as long as there is no US currency in the equation.. I believe this is still true to date.. I do no know they work with programs for our students from the universities and our young adults.. who would otherwise be hanging out in the streets, and there hands are always "COLD" & WET..and they still try to do the right thing for kiters and the public in general and.... they bring alot of money to the businisses in Alameda..Im up here across the street and see them wading in the water all day long.. I don't envy them at all bro...I'm sorry if you think I'm full of BS ??.. but as you know I love those girls for what there doing for our kids and Alameda.

Here is another way to donate to the cause. I have set up a package of 1) 8 X 10 print & 1) Coffee mug (with your beautiful mug on the mug) for the price of only $30.00. All the proceeds from this package (about half) I will donate to Luz fund. All the water sport's racing ,Kite boarding ,Windsurfing gallery's are open for the package through the end of the month. There was a similar accident a few years back at Silver Strand in San Diego. Kiting at the spot was talked of being banned. In the end, they found a resolution where there is now a designated "kite" area, and a designated "swimming" area. I would suggest that Alameda do the same, as kites and people don't mix, and this is bound to happen again.
My sentiments to the girl and her family, and I know the kiter must feel awful too. There was no mention as to what color and make of kite he was on?

That is a wonderfull idea...If everyone could stay upwind?? but as you and I know... sooner or later you will find yourself downwind out of the kiting area.. This was once tryed at alameda crown beach for windsurfers.

The idea was to designate a area at a shack at the top of Crown beach..after a few weeks the area looked like a regatta nationals event with no place to park..so in came the cement and a new parking lot a few feet from to the beach. this was good for more parking fees and good revenue for the parks..but most of the windsurfers were newbes and would end up downwind anyway.. much of what you see everyday day around here.. now this is where it got interesting as most of the new windsurfers would park there car's trucks on the beach side.. (No Parking Zone) to pick up the now downwind sailor and there gear.

You guessed right ... It was a nightmare for the traffic along (Shoreline Drive) and that was just one problem with this idea.. as time went by the sun bathers had no room around that area.. and that part of the beach had a lot of tall sea grass to block the wind to soak up the sun.now it was all windsurfing gear and the like.. most of these folks moved across the street from the beach to be close to this area..and that was just not fair for them to have to walk way down the beach instead of in front of there home.
