Do we know what the total bill is? Chipping in a few $'s aint gonna make this lady thrilled if it cost her $10k because she didnt have any insurance.

The Stitches probably ran a couple hundred dollars. Now if this scar is really 9 inches on her face I am sure that will have a huge impact on the poor girls self confidence going forward. They will probably want possibly plastic surgery which could run 10,000+ . Ultimately the asshole responsible really needs to come forward but I am going to donate what can in the meantime.

Just donated. How many kiters in the bay area? If 100 of us donate $20/piece, that's not a bad dent in the bills... Small price to pay for not only the family's finances, but our continued access

Charlie, for some reason the picture upload option doesn't show up unless you go into preview mode. Click preview, and scroll down to see the "Upload Attachment" tab.

just gave as well.

give because it's right,......not hush money.

staying 2-3 kite-line lengths from the beach except when
coming in or out rule needs to be implemented.
shoulda been long ago.
and BSschool needs to do WAY better job teaching self-rescue/ethics
but there not responsible for everyone.

This is a picture of the little girl, Luz, and her cut.

Miguel, Luz's godfather, wants the message out that if the cut had been a few inches below, it would have been her neck, and it would have been very severe.

:( I don't think calling the guy names is going to bring him out of hiding. Based on what was provided - seems like TWO people were responsible here? Launcher (should never launch unless safe) + kiter (should never give thumbs up unless safe). If the launcher threw it before the kiter was ready, as was mentioned earlier in the post, hmmm. Either way, the bare minimum common decency thing to do is apologize for not sticking around and helping. I know the kiter rode away, but what about the launcher, did he book too?

God this is an ugly situation for everyone.

I just spoke with Miguel, Luz's godfather, and let him know we are not leaving them alone to deal with this. He said that Luz will be seeing the surgeon again on Tuesday. He'll keep us posted as to how much her care has cost, he doesn't have any figures from her parents at this point. His main concern is to see people not get hurt, he lives across from the street from the beach in Alameda.
