Got to fly the 6M and 8M Rallys today at SI. The 8 will definitely be my replacement for my beloved 7M Links. I rode it only on my surfboard, strapless, and it was close to the perfect kite for the job: zooms upwind, turns really fast, nice bar pressure (not too heavy). The depower is linear -- 0 to 100, so you can shut the kite on and off in a bottom turn, or moderate it nicely when powering up to jump. On my first tack I was getting more air strapless than I have been able to get on my other kites.

The kites turn easily even with your hand on the wrong side of the bar, which comes in handy when riding waves, and you can fly them fast across the window without getting pulled off the board(ditto).

On the 8, I never had to look at the kite to know what it was doing (the 6 surprised me a few times, but it's more predictable than my 5 Rev) which what I have always loved about SS kites ever since I started riding them. Everything felt natural from the minute I launched it; no learning curve.

One downside of the 6M: When the wind dropped off, it tended to backstall when overloaded. Granted, this is a high wind kite and other people were still out on 11s at the same time, but I still hate it when kites start flying backwards.

Thanks to the SS crew for the demo!

It says 10M, but it's really a 9.

Thieves at Sherman? Not cool at all! I wasn't able to be there for the demo as we were on a roadtrip up to Floras Lake, Oregon, but am bummed to read about a loss of gear, especially by someone who puts out a lot of time and effort on his demo visits here. Certainly it is a downside. Recently, a couple friends teased me about putting away some gear at Sherman along the lines of "what? c'mon, you're at Sherman!"

The times are changing...

Shy,

Thanks for letting me use your 12m Ralley on the evening of the BBQ! Everyone was macking on Mikes's vittles and i was out on the river by myself.

Saved me from pumping up my Boss. I had a really good time on it. The jumps on that thing are super lofty and it just brings you down so nice.

Were there any of those boards sold or are those protos. Makes it easier to just smack someone instead of asking them where they got it! I will keep my eyes open. Smack down.....ask questions later.
Chris
