Okay so Iíve been out 3 times on the WW 12m Outrage. Here are my thoughts. First off Iím just getting into my third year of kiting so I guess Iím considered an intermediate kiter. Iím about 200lbs and I was on a 128 x 37. Wind was about 15kts with gusts to about 25kts and lulls at about 8knots. I had a hard time adjusting to the kite; my previous 12m kite was a 03 gaastra GXR. Today everything just seemed to click with the kite. Some of you may have read in other forums that I could not get the SAFE system to deploy. Chalk that up to user error and unrealistic expectations. The safe system will depower the kite about 75%. I guess I was thinking the kite would have no pull at all. Everyone has talked about the bomber construction so I wonít even go there. On the water the kite is very stable. My only mid aspect kite was a 03 9m slingshot fuel and that buzzed around like a bumblebee on crack. So I never understood the mid aspect kites being really stable thing. Iíve always flown high aspect kites so comparing to other high aspect kites this one is very stable in the air. The low end is very good not rhino 2 good but I was very surprised at how I was able to keep going in the lulls. The bar pressure is moderate, the GXR was too light and any time you pulled in on the bar the kite would flare and fly backwards. So a bit of pressure is good. Turning speed compared to the GXR, Storm 2, and the Rhino 2, Iíd have to say it turns pretty fast (although itís far from a bumblebee on crack). One of the things that I like about this kite is it sits far forward making upwind a breeze (Today was directly onshore). The thing everyone is talking about this kite is what itís like to jump with it. Iím sure as I get more comfortable with the kite that will better, but I have to say that today I launched a couple of good ones. It wasnít the jumping that impressed me, I could have just gotten lucky with that, but the hang time is unreal. I think thatís the thing that impressed me the most with the kite is the fact that you go up and hang, then float down.

Do you know whaht the difference between the B-safe bar and the CC-safe bar (anoounced in Windwing's website) is?

Yep the b-safe bar is like most other bars, but it hads a long throw. I think it's about 22 inches. The cc-bar runs through 2 pulleys. One below the bar the other near the depower strap on the top. The idea behind the cc-bar is to creat friction so the bar won't slide very easy. it will pretty much stay where you put it. You could set the cc-bar for high or low friction. I set mine for low friction. Riding one handed has never been easier. You won't have to hold the bar down, you just steer the kite with one hand. It's a good setup.

What kites are you thinking about geting??

What bar and harness style are you using? I'm curious because even at 6' with long arms I can't imagine using 22" with a waist harness. Also, how well do you think the Outrage works as a beginner kite?

it's not to beginner friendly. It will pull hard, and is a bit rough. That said I learned on this kind of kite and love it. I use a waist harness, and yes 22 inches is far away, but it's doable. I read that you have the jumpstart on the outrage?? Should make it easier for you to learn on. I think the rage2 is more beginner friendly. It has a softer pull.

When I bought my '04 Outrage it was the only kite WW had at the time. The Rages weren't due for a few more months. WW said - and I believe them - that the Outrage would really help going upwind because it sits so far forward. And as I said elsewhere, the Jumpstart works just fine for me.

Sounds good. I may put the jumpstart on the outrage, until they redesign the safe for the outrage. It was really made for the Rage2. They are tweeking a few designs for a outrage safe bridle. I think the 06's will relaunch like the rapture. NO Bridles!!!
