Providing user-submitted gear reviews in a way similiar to the mountain bike reviews found at www.mtbr.com and amazon.com has been suggested by some and looks to be an ideal way to provide un-biased user reviews of kites, boards, harnesses, DVD's, accessories and more.
We're looking at different ways of doing this and would like to implement a system that is easy to use, can be user-controlled and runs itself, similiar to the discussion forums so all the information doesn't need to be processed a second time after submission to be viewed by others.
If anyone has any suggestions or is familiar with a customizable system that will work for this let us know. We'll try and get this going soon. :o

here are my thoughts on the gear review section.
I think it should be set up like an e-commerce site where you can select kites then the manufacturer then the year then the model then maybe the size. Then do the same for boards, bars, lines, harnesses, bindings, helmets, wetsuits and anything else. And if we go this far what about rating different kiting locations???
Also I'd like to request ideas for how many "_______" you give a product. For instance at mtbr.com you vote how many "hot chillis" a product deserves. Well I think it would be lame if we used chilli's also. So my idea would be to give my new Slingshot Fuel 5/5 "handle passes". What ideas do you have for this?
Also I too would like to include the same fields as the sight listed above. how much paid, purchased where, pluses, minuses, and like a comment field. What do you think?
Should a poster of gear review be a registered BAK user?
OK i'm done thinking.

Looks like we'll be implementing this product for BAK gear reviews:
http://www.reviewpost.com/
This will (hopefully) integrate seamlessly with our current Php-based discussion board forum. Registered users will be able to use their same login to post their reviews, as the ReviewPost softare integrates with PhpBB and uses the same MySQL database.
Do you think this will be a worthwhile addition to the site?

Good timing on your question. My initial estimate on when it would be done was little unrealistic, but it is literally almost done now. I'm putting the finishing touches on it.
If your gear is already listed, you'll be able to select it and post your review. If it's not listed, you'll be able to upload photo(s) of it, post a description and your review.
