not picking, just preventing having to have anyone picked up with a spatula by the fire dept. like that guy 2 years ago who was foaming at the mouth from rigging his lines backwards and getting a bad launch.

Re: A First-Timer Guide to Winter Storms
Another winter change at alameda as well I just thought of...
Tides are lower, and the erosion has revealed a nice new set of rocks at the launch. be careful to not jab your foot or land on your hip by doing stupid stuff in shallow waters. Dont let certain people's kiteloops 10' from shore give you false impressions that it is all sandy soft bottom. Most of it is but all it takes is one wrong spot and you will be a chinese food dish- messyhipknee soup.

So, if I use a GoJoe, am I telling the world that I totally lack experience?

Re: A First-Timer Guide to Winter Storms
There's nothing wrong with telling to world that. It helps experienced riders look out for you and the faster you can get your board back the more you'll ride. There is no shame in being new to something and taking advantage of available technology. We were all new once and many of us used dangerous leashes.
But - if you're still rocking the go-joe or leash when you show up at crissy/OB/waddell/etc it's a big red flag that you're probably not ready.

I think leashes are dangerous, but i learned with one an a lot of people do. So why do all the guys in the mags riding these huge waves on surfboards have surf board leashes? do you guys think they are all kooks that are going to be in your way?
Riding used and closeout kites and boards from e-bay,craigslist,ikitesurf, and local surf shops. Now riding home made foils

Not everyone who uses a GoJoe lacks experience. I don't think you should judge someone's experience on the fact that they have a GoJoe.
Ok-I have a can of aqua net in my hair cause it's the 80's today at work.
