Damn, that's messed up. Everything conspired against that guy that day -- it was a weird evening, must have been mixed with lot's of good and evil...

Hey Yuri, nothing wrong with mowing the lawn or dangling. Buddy, I got pins , metal and a dead guys hip bone propping my c5 and c6 and 5 years ago was facing being a quadriplegic . I am thankful every time I walk to the kitchen and grab a glass of water, ECSTATIC every time I get to get a little air and mow the lawn. Every time out there is a gift, unfortunately some of us only figure out how fortunate we are after getting a roof on the head like I did.

I really will be sending positive vibes to the injured kiter and would like to know if anyone knows his name and if we as a kitting community can do something nice for him.

Unrelated but pulled my first legit backroll last monday...not a biggie to most, but great feel for an old guy with a broken neck...

Hey Jono, I keep seeing you at SI but never have had a chance to shake your hand yet. Hope I get to sometime, I do enjoy reading your posts.

Yoda, thanks for the update. Can you please make sure that he knows, or better right now his relatives know that we all wish the best for him.

One question I have with he brain injury, did he wear a helmet?

He was wearing a helmet which probably kept him alive. I'll try to let the family know that we all are hoping for the best on his recovery. Fyi... his name is Matt Parker.

It's pretty interesting to think about how kiting "Can change your life"
---Really fun in one direction and kind of scary going the other---

I hope he gets up soon…. Do we know where he is?
Can we do anything for him? It sounds like he is pretty messed up…

I hope someone tells him we don’t think he is an idiot.. Someone should also give him the good news… He’s a pretty popular guy in kiting now; someone needs to show him the secret handshake. When he comes out of it and can think straight again, he‘ll totally have that can’t-really-teach-knowledge of
...“Man stuff can go bad with this sport and it can go really really bad really really fast”
and hopefully after everything gets better he’ll be back thinking
“but damn, its worth it because this sport is SO MUCH FUN!”

It's pretty sobering reading all of this.. I like Yuri's first take on getting rid of all leashes in the bay area.... Wooohoooo..

Nat at Edge kiteboarding was the one with the uneviable job of calling his dad after the accident took place. He and a couple others has to break into his truck to get his cell phone and make the call. Maybe I can try to find out from Nat if he still has any contact info for him or his family. Maybe there is something we can do for him.

Please tell him I want to offer to take him back out when he's ready.
I'll give him one day of support with jet-ski back-up..
I pray he makes a full recovery and one day comes back to kite again,
Greg Boyington
