Wow, now I'm getting attacked?

The intent, principles and purpose of this forum remain true to this day and I stand by it and our community helps build it.

I passed on what I thought was wisdom from Trang, who I think is a man who has wisdom to share. I think the same of you.

But we can get you one of these so you can clean up this town if you want:

I think this thread has now overtaken the unbelievable iKitesurf "Belmont" thread of the past two weeks. No new opinions are surfacing here, although the role of EBParks is an interesting development. And no, I didn't buy my gear from either store.

Let's kill it please and get in the water (windy now??)

Over? Ah BULLSHIT! It's not over until we all can ride what we want, when we want, where we want! Don't take our (the buyer's) freedom away! Beaches should be shared!

GONNA DEFINITELY CHIME IN ON THIS ONE!!!

The 40 or so kitters trained for free on First Aid and CPR in the last 2 years at Alameda would not have received said training if not by HUGE SUPPORT by OLLIE!!! He has done more to promote our sport and safety than anyone in the bay area and respect should be given where respect is due.

The same way, Jeff has graciously given us the space to hold the classes regardless of what political shenanigans might be going on in the area...

As far as this whole thing, I will give you the example of what I know best.
If someone F's up at the fire house, the crew will set the person straight, we don't go to the fire captain of the fire chief. That is one way to screw everything for everybody, truly the fastest way to lose any perks available...Cops is not how we should police ourselves, and attracting attention onto ourselves will invariably cause something rotten to be found out...

We are a very cool tribe, some of us find such unique friendships that make's us akin to family...I am a firm believer of washing our dirty laundry amongst ourselves...

The tribe rocks above it all!!!! :supz:

I'm saddened but also hopefull that this went down as it's gone down.. I'd like to see the two shops work out there differances at least the point they are NOT getting police involved.

Now everyone knows they need permits: lets EVERYONE follow the rules and see how this goes..

Hopefully, a number of venders, like Travis, well make the "attempt" to go through the proper channels and obtain proper permiting. Hopefully, no more venders will not get a no-go for permits as that will be a bad sign...
As far as the pissing match between shops goes, I just wish demo's we left out of it all to gather.

EBRP = ridiculous

Post by 5150 » Wed May 07, 2008 8:35 am

I think it is important that everybody understands the problem is the regional park, not the city of alameda. The alameda police would not bother KWS b/c boardsports whined to them- they have more important things to do (like keep the poor people on the other side of the moat).

That being said, the problem with the boardsports girls (and EBRP) is that they don't grasp that pumping up a kite and letting anybody use it for free is not "commercial activity." No money is involved.

The reason the EBRP police even get involved is because the shack loonies call them and complain... that's it. And when the shackers come up here and say "all you need is a permit" and you compare that to what travis hears when he asks for a permit "no, that conflicts with the exclusive boardsports concession", you realize that boardsports does truly stand for BS.

I realize that i'm perpetuating the drama- but i do want to make it clear the city of alameda and the alameda pd have nothing to do with this mess.

The marketplace works best when we all have access to all the goods, and get to make our own decisions about what to buy. Attempting to limit my access to products makes me ornery and litigious. (fair warning)

I find it interesting how the mental concepts, ME and MY, they and them, effect thinking and thus emotion.
In a New Earth, Eckhart Tolle says:
Ego takes everything personally. Emotion arises, defensiveness, perhaps even aggression. Are you defending the truth? No, the truth in any case, needs no defense. The light and sound does not care about what you or anybody else thinks. You are defending yourself, the mind made substitute. It would even be more accurate to say that the illusion is defending it-self. If even the simple and straightforward realm of facts can lend itself to egoic distortion and illusion, how much more so the less tangible realm of opionions, viewpoints, and judgments, all of them thought forms that can easily become infused with a sense of "I".
Every ego confuses opinions and viewpoints with facts. Furthermore, it cannot tell the difference between between an event and its reaction to that event. Every ego is a master of selective perception and distorted interpretation. Only through awareness- not through thinking- can you differentiate between fact and opinion . Only through awareness are you able to to see: There is the situation and here is the anger I feel about it, and then realize there are other ways of approaching the situation, other ways of seeing it and dealing with it. Only through awareness can you see the totality of the situation or person instead of adopting one limited perspective.

That said: I'm going to let it be- and hope the situation improves,
G.

Nice post LMG...

I would like to suggest an ELEGANT exit for this impasse - for EVERYBODY.

1) BoardSports sends a letter to the parks informing them that Demo's are not commercial per se, and that it has no problems with manufacturers coming to Crown Beach for this purpose, whatever their affiliation (A copy of that letter is placed on this forum.)

2) BoardSports hold a BBQ in which Travis and the North Team /dealer are invited back. The BBQ will serve a twofold purpose: a) I will allow us all to get together again in a tribal way as has been suggested in this thread and b) It will confirm step 1 of this solution.

3)Dirty laundry will be washed at the courthouse and not at the beach with the police involved. That is, NO MORE CALLING patrol cars, helicopters, or the likes if there are any issues.

Charlie, can I get your backing on this?
Leo
