How to Get knitting to be Banned at Coyote Pt.

First, pick a warm Sunday afternoon when dozens of people go to the beach to let their children safely wade in warm shallow water in the seemingly protected swim area at Coyote.
Second, launch an obvious beginner and direct him to body drag through the swim area.
Third, launch the teacher and watch him power through the swim area while carrying the beginner's board.
Fourth, after being warned to stay out of the swimming area, launch another guy from exactly the same spot and watch him short tack 30 feet off the beach flying his kite over the heads of a crowd of beach users while trying to get upwind enough to stay out of the swim area.
Fifth, return to the beach, same spot, kite fully under power, and try to land over people wading in the water.

Please stay out of the swimming area

I just sent Boardsports an email to let them know that I value Coyote access (mainly for downwinders to 3rd).
If they get a bunch of emails, maybe that will help.
Shutting down kiting at Coyote will not be good for business.

I had just launched from the from the power towers. I saw 1st kite go up from the swimming area and start to body drag out then the 2nd went up as I raced down to tell them not to go through there. I tacked upwind outside the swim zone to tell the other one the same thing and noticed he did not have a board but #2 had an extra in his arms Looked like some kind of a lesson, Bs school or friend teaching friend I don't know, but when #2 got to me he said "it will not happen again" and "DON'T put us in danger" like he did the 100's of beach goers this vary warm Sunday.

Kite guy #3 still on beach heard all this and still with a park ranger telling him not to launch there set up his lines and up it went very close to people in the water and on the swimming beach. Later I came in a safe distance from the shore away from others dropped my kite in the water flagged it got to it and swam to the beach. #3 came in and wanted me to catch his kite there between us were two little kids in the water I waved him to a safer point and landed him.

The head park ranger said they can give out two kinds of tickets one is like a parking ticket the other is to show up in court, what one do you want?

Please launch at power towers, not the swim zone

This was posted on Team Coyote:
Unfortunately someone from the Boardsport concession decided to launch a beginner kiter and have him drag thru the swimming area while the instructor followed carring the student's board.
And I got this respose from Boardsports.
We do not teach kiting water lessons at Coyote. Whom ever was out has nothing to do with us. So, if you see action like that, you should approach these people to chat with them. We will do the same.

All the best,
-Rebecca
Not sure whats going on, but its good to hear that Boardsports is not involved.

Maybe we should start taking the photos of the offenders and post it on-line.

Maybe somebody needs to ask the Team Coyote webmaster to edit their editorial so they (Board Sports School) don't get wrongly accused about the dangerous teaching condtions that happened last weekend?

Not sure if the three kiters or the tall skinny guy on a hot sail had anything to do with Board Sports. But when I see someone ripping back and forth through the swim area directly in front of Board Sports, and three kiters launch directly in front of Board Sports, I remember all the issues from last year generated from Board Sports. Since Board Sports has a window on the bay, maybe it is time for them to help police the area and keep things safe. I know when I see someone launch or sail in an area that is restricted, I make a point to track them down and let them know so that they don't do it again.

Last week there was a heavy/chubby, darker complexion (seemed Spanish or Indian) guy teaching a group of girls on a trainer kite at the upper launch at 3rd; These 'students' flew the kite dangerously close to kiters trying to set-up there kites; smacking down the trainer kite about 10 feet away at some point. I bet it was that same guy.

In cases like this, confrontation is a must. I am with Sonny; get a nice zoomed in picture of these offenders and post it so we all can ID them and keep an eye out for them, put them on the KBC (Kite Boarding Criminals) top-ten most wanted list.
