wow we got some kiteboarding pioneers here.
Hey i got a birdbath int he backyard.... anyone wanna try to kite it?
But yeah seriously i def open to checking out new locations to kite. I see lots of potential spots all the time.
One i saw last night was the areas just to the right as you pass thru the Bay Bridge toll plaza. at the foot of the new bay bridge. Looks kinda like an Alameda style long mud flat area. Is that a bird sactuary?
Imagine all the people rear ending each other at the toll plaza while watching a bunch of kiters.

Technically, 3rd ave wasn't a dump, but rather the big hill upwind from it was; I guess its all the same being about ?? mile away;
92 east sounds like an ideal location for beginners given the on-shore wind situation; but jumping can be an issue; as you may find yourself on 92 if you get a big boost.

I've actually gotten out of my car on a nuking day at that lagoon at candlestick. It was real windy and I was by myself, it definitely was kitable on the north side. I figure why not just kite candlestick right off the freeway the water is pretty shallow there, the beach just needs to be raked of sharp objects.

Sure, but there is a reason some call it "Turd Avenue".average_male wrote:Technically, 3rd ave wasn't a dump, but rather the big hill upwind from it was;
Anyone ever kite Lexington Reservoir in Los Gatos? I asked this a while back and nobody said yes. The launch from the Highway 17 side would be primo, but the county closed it to parking and maybe even access. You could probably drift-launch from the boat dock on the other side as it's in a big wind shadow. It's often windy when the bay is not, and there's plenty of water early in the season, so I'm wondering if anyone has had the opportunity for the adventure. I windsurfed there many years (OK a decade) ago and it was convenient.

The water might be too low at Lexington Reservoir at the moment. You can actually hike there right now and see the exposed foundations of the old town of Lexington before it was dammed and flooded.

OK, I'm up for some exploring today. Anyone up for either a covert launch at shoreline lake (probably a quiet day over there anyway with all the kiddies back in school) or Stanford's Lake Lagunita (could probably walk there from my house...definitely bike)? I can meet any time after 3pm.

Edit: hmm...maybe lagunita is dry right now??
