Anyone see the seal tonight? It was popping it's head out to check things out right next to one of the inside buoys

This entire algae thing has got me worried :-k . I was out at little baja today trying knew things, resulting in alot of crashing. I had no clue about this new bloom and swallowed mouthfuls of water. Although, I havnt seen any of those flakes out thier im just hoping I dont get sick.

Apparently the stuff is addictive as cocaine (http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/ma ... .Ot.r.html). So you know the feeling of withdraw you get when you haven't been kiting for a few days? It might not be the kiting :P

But seriously, when you think about what must be in the water at 3rd or over at Berkeley (heck, the marina used to be a landfill), it seems like this algae can't be any worse.

shit, this makes perfect sense, I've been going to third for the past week and now my nose is all stuffy every time I get out of water. I think I need to contact my local 'sherman' dealer :).

so i am curious, was it busy at SI this weekend? or were people really put off by the algae?

I think it was a normal weekend at SI. The baja launch had a good crowd, and when we shot upwind to take over the second island, there was a good crowd at the park launch. I dont know of anyone who reported health problems.

Jake's been getting "mary jane" eyes for a while so that's not new.

Kevin's working on tripple backloops and rib fractures.

My toes still hurt from non-kite related injuries.

Eric cooked us some spaghetti after his kite luffed and hucked him a ways.

Julie went upwind for the first time.

Jake (all of 14 years old and 100 lbs) held down a 12 when larger adults (160+ lbs) were on 10s.

Glenn nailed kite loops.

I maintained my status as 'the floater'.

Kenny is still "downwind kenny"

Dave is still "inside the bouys Dave"

Bruce and Rita were burning.

Mark and his kite survived a kitemare.

Russ carved water all over me when I was retrieving my board out of the tules.

Plenty of beer was consumed by all.

Ya, I don't think the algae kept anyone I know away. Burning man took a few though. Man that was a great weekend! Thanks to everyone out at little Baja, Jake and I had a blast 8).

I think the algae affected the windsurfers more than the kiters since they spend more time in the water. One was clearly swallowing a bunch since she kept heading on a collision course with me and yelling incomprehensibly.

I would have to say, after watching Carl on Saturday, he would be most at risk, I don't think anyone is in the water as much as he is.. Great stuff to watch though, it teaches me that If your not in the water (like me) you need to try harder and take more risks to get as good as the "Big Boys"....

She? Lol, I think I ran into her husband or should I say he deliberately ran into me. I was on my way up to the islands from baja and when I got to the power lines (on the far side) I was on a starboard tack so I figured I had the right of way and held my course. Instead of dropping down wind, he came right at me and jibed in my lines and told me to get the "F" out of there. Ya, it was on! He's gonna call territory? That was the first time I got so pissed I wanted to jump up and throw my piece of crap board right through his sail! Sorry pal, I'm going anywhere the wind let's me!
