To the great people at 3rd ave, I thank you. I had one of my worst days kiting at 3rd ave yesterday, but the crew at 3rd are the most helpful and understanding people.
First off, I want to apologize again to the women windsurfer I clipped with my kite and knocked down. If that wasn't enough, I kooked out again and wrapped my lines around Roger's kite (damn, Roger, thank you for being so understanding.) As we were trying to untangle, my kite started to power up, and we were right next to each other. I released my kite to avoid injury, but somehow ended up releasing his. But he didn't have a leash and that badboy was on its way to the san mateo bridge. But thank god for Sonny (you have a 12 pack of coca-cola coming your way) who gave Roger a tow out there to grab the kite. And another big thanks to the guy on the jetski (who was that? let me at least pay for your guy's gas or something)for picking him up to save Roger from a longass swim in.
anyone had bad days like this? I'm pretty much ready to sell my gear and focus on the much simpler sport of surfing.
Andre

Yuri:
the guy causing the issues (windsurfer/kite tangle) was on a yellowish North. The guy on the red Cabrinha was Rodger from SD and he and his kite are fine..just wet :-). Txs to John from Helm and Sonny. I tried to capture Rodgers kite but got tangled twice in his lines, so I hailed John who was already doing rescue duty. John did the rest.
So, how high did your "jumping meter" register?

Steve I GOT YOUR 18" RIGHT HERE FOR YOU BUDDY!
Kidding.
It was partially damaged from a little water. I was able to salvage some data but it said 20-30 foot jumps which is not accurate at all. When it gets putin the tube I think it dampens the readings and also the pressure isnt equalized. I gotta figure this out.

yeah dog
It's been a while since I've kited 3rd ave, and was there yesterday......I thought that jumping while wsurfers are slogging was hazing enough, but was quite impressed @ how the local crew at 3rd has taken abuse to a whole new level.....I wonder how the wsurfers @ Sherman would react to lines wrapping around their beloved poles.........(just kidding)
Get some, Z.

Yes sir, you acted like a kook and were a hazard to others. You could have killed that woman and you put everyone else's access rights in jeopardy. Please try to learn something from your experience. You are a relative newby to the sport and if you don't have the skills, attitude and the water safety knowledge to kite safely, then please take some lessons and/or practice way off by yourself where you are only a danger to yourself.andre wrote:To the great people at 3rd ave, I thank you. I also had an issue that Sonny was so kind enough to resue me out of, he saved my kite from getting sliced and diced. That Sonny, what a big heart that guy has. The ironic thing is, if kites get ripped, people go to him to have them fixed (fixes them very well might I add). Yet he still is kind and skilled enough to save people's kites when he can.
The folks at 3rd ave are the nices people you could hope to run into.
