The best logo at the begining and end are because Stacy Fonas from Best Kiteboarding posted the video.

I'm just glad there is evidence of this wicked jump for the rest of us who were having a great (crowdless) weekend at Sherman.

The event was sponsored in part by Best, so I guess the camera man had obligations to fill.

Hey Yuri, so you make boards and kiteboard ramps. I saw your ramp being pulled out on Saturday. Do you own your own start-up kitboarding shop or what?

So is the whole kiteloop = helicopter technique a Jesse Richmond invention? Do the physics limit to how long you could fly?........... or not...???

I dont know who invented it, but the first person I saw videos of doing it again and again is Ruben Len10.

There is a theoretical limit as to how long you can fly. The faster flying kites should have an advantage over slower ones. This is critical because as the kiter is moving through the air, the relative wind over the kite decreases. I doubt we've come close to the limit yet.

Snow kiters have been doing this sort of thing for some time . . . . often hovering in the air using slope-induced updrafts for much much longer than 22 seconds and without all the looping. Its all good on a small kite if you can keep yourself aloft fairly close to the water (as he did). The only time I've really had a scare jumping was on my small kite when I went huge on a gust and then dropped like a rock on a lull  . . . smacked my knee on the board in a panic landing and got a nice bruise . . . .

Cheers,

Gideon

I think that is mis-leading statement because I don't think they will in the air 22 seconds above the elevation they jump from. They tend to float down the slope.
