I have to agree with z, my 12 and 9 06 Vegas is freaking zippy with the 07 bar, I was super-pleasantly surprised.

longer bar=more leverage

eh. I gotta go with steve on this one, a longer bar causes you to be able to turn the kite faster because you can cause a greater differential in line length, so yeah, the 07 bar will make the kite pivot faster, but in terms of "speed through the window" the bar won't make a difference.

I think what everyone is talking about is the time from when you turn the bar to when the kite comes up at the other side. the longer bar will help with this because the initial pivot will be faster.

whatever the case, a faster turning kite is always welcome in waves....

with that said, why not make bars even longer for big kites? where's the downside?

I thought that's what he was asking about in the first place? I can email you the rate sheet if you want to take out an ad for your brand, though...

As someone pointed out above, try shorter lines to make it fly faster through the window..

Regarding the 07/06 north bar debate:
07 bar, 25m lines
06 bar, 27m lines

Hello Ollie...I get it but....

I think the idea behind a forum is both for community knowledge to be shared and for brand knowledge to be shared. Forums are full of people pushing/bashing brands but what makes your forum unique is that many of us know who we are getting this info from.

Z - is a good rider who gets a lot of time on the water. He loves the kites he fly's, he loves the boards he rides. I see him on almost every swell on the coast and believe me, if he wasn't happy with his gear in the waves, he'd get something else. Zeev is a local North rider...I believe most of us know that. His information on the North kites is solid. I think Paul asked a question with the assumption that what he has already is not going to work. Z chimed in to let him know that what he has works well...GOOD INFO!

Bottom line is, you should be encouraging other brands to support the community with their local riders as Zeev does here. Anyone in the Bay Area (on this forum) knows that if they have a North question, they can ask it here and get an answer from Zeev.

How about other brands? Are there reliable, trust worthy resources on this site for any?

We're all relatively intelligent. We can see the diffference between just plain pimpin and solid info. I think in Zeev's case, you mostly get the latter...

KillaHz, Couldn't agree more!

One of my favorite things about this forum is the local representation of many brands (Cabrinah, North, Slingshot, etc.).

Ollie, aren't you a "sponsored rider" too? Hmmm....

There is a reason we all use Caution kites at Waddel.... They are durable, fast, powerful and stable. Not to mention the manufacture is in our home town and give killer support when needed.

Good luck in your quest to find the best kites.

I am 100% for everyone getting all the info they need on all brands and I think we have one of the best kiting communities around and pretty sure one of the best forums also. North kites are indeed solid and nice kites, and I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from posting, at least not intentionallly unless it's inappropriate or offensive content. I also am sponsored and chime in from time to time, for better or worse, about what I think is a good product and good value if someone is trying to make choices about what kites to try or buy.

My point is that topics often stray and an inquiry specific to Caution went four posts before turning into yet another North discussion of which we have many, as a handful of people that have an interest in promoting North, many sponsored or semi-sponsored, take frequent opportunity to promote.

So, in the interest of true overall brand representation, if someone is asking questions about Caution kites regarding a size they don't have (7m), let the info flow about that kite. The whole intent of this site is to promote safety and share information. I realize many people are stoked on North kites, and I'm happy that they're enjoying the sport, but despite any support I may have or others may have, it's not a brand-specific site, so give others a chance sometimes. Everyone in this industry is doing their best to come up with great products and make a living at it too and it's hard to make money in it as most know. And despite a fair request to follow these guidelines in the interest of all kiters https://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/vie ... php?t=3989, some have ignored them.

Am I wrong or off-base here?
Bottom line is, you should be encouraging other brands to support the community with their local riders
That's the point. How many Caution kites do you see in the Bay? I want to see many brands supportive of the local community. That's part of the reason why we've organized a non brand-specific demo day this weekend at Sherman. All brands are invited to come and demo their gear.

Caution, are you listening? Bring your demo kites up Saturday and join in. So far we've got Lightwave, Ozone and Slingshot lined up for demo and hope for more.
