Just a note - Keep in mind that if the park becomes informed or sees the cleanup in progress, they may want to know why they weren't informed and they will likely want everyone to sign waivers. From past experience, cities and park departments can be tough about these things, so it might be a good idea to run it by them first to let them know your intention.

Sometimes it's better to go the conservative route to prevent problems and possible bad will with regard to relations with the park. EBRPD has been very generous to the kiting community as long as you follow the rules. It was perceived in the past that someone wasn't following the rules and that resulted in patrol cars, mounted police and helicopters. I agree that something well-intentioned, like a beach clean-up, is not the same and that wouldn't happen, but...

My opinion after giving it some thought, is that if you want to spend your morning picking up some trash on your morning walk along the beach that's cool, and I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with that, but to organize a publicly-announced cleanup without asking or informing them may not be a good idea and it's something they may see as putting them at risk from a liability standpoint.

I only mention it after recalling my experience with dealing with the park and how they were very specific about any type of announced public event at Alameda. At Pt. Emery, the City of Emeryville is very supportive and even provides us with a big dumpster from Waste Management, free of cost. All we need to do in return is make sure everyone signs the waivers and get them back to the City.

I suggest letting them know to be safe. They will likely be happy to have the clean-up and they will appreciate being notified. My 2 cents, just to be safe.

I will contact Anne Rockwell and get the premission slips. I will leave A FOLDING TABLE at the shack with the nessarry items. Begin by PLEASE signing a waiver (if you dont want to sign a gov doc I wont rat on you), get baggy, collect what you find untell your sick of it, leave baggies @ the verous bathrooms along the beach, I'll drive by and collect the bags around 3pm and return to the shack to recieve a round or two of beatings (falling off Yuri's spring thing).
Co-operate and graduate.. lets not tarnish an otherwize positive event

For what it's worth, I thought it was a good idea! I was just jokin about the dumpster thing. Yes in reality the only work I wanna do is pump my pump 69.5 times to fill my kite but I'm totally willing to help if I can. Plus your gonna need at least 10 people to stretch a bunjee! Greg can pull the trigger, somebody has to video it and charlie can bark out orders while we all ignore him :)
