Everyone is pretty aware that this has been an unusual bay area "offseason" with regards to weather patterns. That is comparing it to seasons of past. NOAA issued this statement how our weather pattern may change for the next couple of seasons. How accurate are these guys? They predicted an active east coast hurricane season last year and were wrong. However, there appears to be change in the air. What was the wind season like from 1998-2001? I wasn't playing with kites until 2003.

I don't know about that but I know mother nature is sometimes predictable. When it gets hot in Sacramento we'll start to get those sweet summer thermals. I can't wait.
What baffles me is that I thought we'd have good wind yesterday or today because of that big storm that just passed through. I thought the clearing winds would be pretty nice due to the size of the passing storm. But yesterday and today, nah dah? Any thoughts? Maybe she's getting less and less predictable to keep us guessing?
Ps. Last night I felt some crazy eartherquakes. Maybe she's gearing up for some good wind?

winds
Forget the professional weather guessers........you can't predict mother nature more then 24/48 hours in advance, she's a woman......
Forget the prettty people on TV........they just read the NWS stuff and spit it back up w/purty graphics........
Know that spring winds will come.....once that NPH sets up shop.......you will all be begging for merccy.........."anyone have a cheap 7m for sale?"....I can just hear it now.....
In the meantime, go play in killer light snow we have in them hills......
In cali, you should spend ZERO time waiting for a condition to happen, cause while you wait, it's GOING OFF a short drive away from you......
So, Get some, Z.

Just released scientific article, notes upwelling of cold water from spring winds off california coast was delayed last year to global warming ie: heating of interior land mass. 0 % oxygen in offshore deep water lasted for four months, causing major damage to biomass production and entire food chain, ie: bird, fish, and marine mammal populations plummeting.
Kite translation was worst spring season for Stinson in years, although unusually good July at coast with late arriving winds.

I guess you finally had to do some work yesterday, Z? I saw Joanie on the lift at AM.
Killer snow. Get it while it lasts; next week's storm is forecast to be a warm one.
Oh and if anyone decides to go snowkiting, I'd suggest bringing snowshoes for set-up. That pow is bottomless right now. You could easily drown in it if you're not careful.

It says 10M, but it's really a 9.

we talked about some of this last year...
the lack of upwelling (cold water moveing up from deeper water)..
right off are coast....
it brings up plankten and other small life to start the food chain...
it makes fog in the summer...
and that can make wind... though the slot to the delta..
it all hangs on that NPH.. of Zs
you see when it sets up it blows the surface water south
and the upwell starts
i hope.
hey z you got 7m for sell or a 5m?
