dude. yuri, you should build one of those neverride things. lightwind alameda would never be the same.

We used to riverboard in Oregon (Eugene, near the Autzen footbridge, UofO campus). The Willamette river gets channeled into this 40 yard wide rock channel and gets moving FAST. It's got waves you can hit when you get slingshotted and dudes actually catch a bit of air. They don't release the line after getting pulled, they float, then sink back down river -- you end up about 9 feet underwater until the line hooks up again, then you rocket back to the surface for another slingshot upstream. The pull is much stronger than any wakeboat start -- probably because you get pulled through that 9 feet of water with your whole body as a drag until you pop-up on the surface. Some people can do full 360s on the downriver float before sinking.

It's pretty cool...mostly it's the 420 kids wasting a day having fun.
