They use the current to stretch the bungee, but I think in alameda you can actually walk it. I would guess launch is trickier from standing position. I love to see it, let us know when.

I've actually done the bungi riverboarding. It's nuts!!! You get up to 30+mph on the launch and then the bungi unhooks and your totally free to "surf the river". The American river has several sweet spots for doing this. One of the best spots is in Sacramento. If you haven't watched the 101 video... then watch it! You actually need a fast moving, smooth surface river flow to make it work. The water needs to be about chest deep at least.

Here's the 101 link - http://www.bansheeriverboards.com/video ... 20x240.wmv

P.S. I still have one of those bungi cords... I destroyed the board, but I still have all the other parts. I now know how to set up any skimboard for it to work again. :)

Maybe have some people on land that pull the line in, then have a quick release, boom, your off. I wonder how much force there is? I am sure you can get too much but I bet you could have a gentle pull from the right bungee and still get a ride in.
This would be far more effective - http://www.neverride.com/47161.html
