Happy new year to everyone!!!!
I've 'ridden' the last 13 days, it was gravity assited vs. wind.......
FYI, Tahoe has finally filled in sufficiently to ride with some speed. Last storm gave us some epic riding on Thurs, the best of the year, with powder which was "lift served" (vs. having to hike to it). Really fun.
The following day came in cold and windy and shaped some of our powder for us - less then ideal. For those who know where to go, there was Plunty of pow to be found in the right exposures. As a matter of fact, Joani and I just finished Sunday as a day of nice fresh pow turns.
On a related note, Johanna is racing in the Tahoe League Race Series - against all the other kids from Tahoe in her age group. On Saturday, she beat out over 200+ other kids to win the Sugar Bowl GS by more the .8 second margin. That is a 2 gate lead over the next best racer - stoked. Needless to say, I'm very proud of my ripping daughter. Not bad for a kid who lives below 5,000 feet ;-)
Get some, Z.

Big D -- Sounds like you've been having fun. I've been checking the pager through the winter & there have been some awesome days. Just too damn much work for me to do to get out there!! Though, Bella & I checked out the scene on a Sunday drive yesterday. The tide was really low, so there was a ton of beach. Are the tides just super high/low in the winter?? I gotta get me a thicker skin before I get in that water at this time of the year!!
Zgur -- Sounds like you've been having fun too! And your daughter WOW!! All I have to say is, apples generally don't fall to far from trees!
Cheers & Happy New Year to all!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------Long nights (winter) = low tides
Long days (summer) = high tides
Thought about this, Fri June 15, 2007 -1.9 ft low tide, 11/24&25, also 12/23, 2007 lowest 1.8ft. Highest high 6.8 winter and summer max I found so far.
Just wonderin.

Yup, mom is quite the accomplished skier....When in Thaoe, on channel 12 you can catch her skiing pow in an Alpine Meadows commercial....also in this link, http://www.skialpine.com/winter/conditi ... l?start=10,
Joani is featured in Picture of the day harvesting some sweet pow on 12/10 ;-)
That girl skis like a goddess - fast, smooth and agressive.
She is quite the keeper!!!!
Pray for snow.

The tides' range is then at its maximum: this is called the "spring tide," or just "springs" and is derived not from the season of spring but rather from the verb "to jump" or "to leap up."
