Madness Tomorrow . . . who's hitting the ocean?

Post by gideonlow » Fri Dec 08, 2006 12:34 am

I'm heading to Waddell, probably early to catch the pre-rain wind. The bouys are currently showing building SE wind and quickly rising swell. I live right near the beach in SC and can hear large rollers making a lot of noise out there already--exactly every 20 seconds. Tomorrow is going to be insane--gusty winds and huge mixed swell from 3 different directions. Easily 20 foot faces . Better double-check all your gear before going out! Who's up for it? Safety in numbers . . .

Cheers!

Gideon

Where else are people kiting today?

Looks like Waddel is fully offshore from the East. Is it kiteable?

Inside the Bay looks decent in a couple spots, but no one on the web cams. Maybe they are sitting in front of their fire place drinking hot cocoa?

Time to pack up and roll, I'm just looking for a few others.

Chip and I hit OB today and it was pretty gnarly. Getting outside was pretty much out and not advisable. Big waves breaking all the way into shore with gusty, strong winds. It was a challenge and qualified for using extreme care. We did a downwinder from Sloat to Beach Chalet and Channel 2 News was there to meet us when we were done. Check out on Channel 2 news at 5, 6, and I think 10pm...

The six o'clock news version was pretty humorous..

VIdeo of Chip - Long Lens- Just a red shirt in a mass or white water... turning to outrun it.
Voice Over was something like
"Two thrill seekers were rescued by the Coast Guard today..."

Turned out to be a couple of surfers that were picked up.

They had a lead in at the top of the hour for a couple of seconds of you guys busting some big air.
