Bladder repair question

The dump valve is starting to peel off the leading edge of my 10m HiR. Is there a glue that I could use to glue the collar back on that would with stand the pressure? The bladder isn't torn or anything, the collar just was't fused very well.

Any advise??

Hi Dewey,

I used to have a lot of bladder problems. I think sometimes kites come with a small glue tube with patches. I don't remember what's called but I used to glue it and on top I sealed it also. Try to see if this helps.

Charlie that looks perfect!! I admit I'm a bit scared to pull the whole thing off. Have you tried it?

Simple repair. Buy some AquaSeal at a surf or dive shop. It's also sold under the name SeamGrip at mountaineering stores. Just glue it back on. For extra protection cut a hole in the middle of a piece of bladder material the size of the valve and glue that on as well. Press it down with something flat and heavy if the glue doesn't go through to the inside of the bladder. Be careful not to glue the bladder together on the inside.

The "Kite Fix" kit uses the same glue I think. "Flexible polyurethane glue" or ìvinyl repair glueî from hardware stores works as well and may be the same as AquaSeal for all I know.

Aquaseal is the ultimate kite repair glue. Works great on bladders. With some spare bladder material you can patch giant holes in the bladders. With some sail repair tape it will hold even a rip of a couple inches for years on the leading edge. Always bring a tube with you when you travel.

no, but i did try the aquaseal stuff ...
it didnt hold or i didnt do it well...?(if you do go this way do a test pic frist to see if it melts your bladder!)
i use glue for smaller jobs
i like the airtime setup,

Make sure you clean the area well before applying glue. rubbing alcohol should be fine. any tips on where i should pick up my spare tube for travel?

I tried Aquaseal, cleaned it well, etc. The valve just started leaking on me again.
Maybe to do it right that way it would have been better to boil off the valve and re- glue the whole thing rather than just trying to stop the leak.
Ehh. I ordered two of those airtime replacement valves. I'll try removing the old valve and all the glue, but it it doesn't look clean, I'm going to seal up the whole side and put new holes on the other side of the kite. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

what i did was take the bad bladder out, and put one from anther kite in there
no more leak.

Dewey, get the valves from Airtime...they're easy to swap and work well. Swapped out a bunch with Doyle this year...good as new.
