Rideing a really small Windsurf Board?

Post by Proparoo » Mon Oct 16, 2006 8:44 am

I just got my new (old school) early 90's Dill 7' 8" sailboard and really want to try it out, I was wondering why it wouldn't work as a really light wind kite board.

It is very small for a sail board (at around 60 liters) but pretty big for a kiteboard.

Heck, I saw a guy go out on a 10' longboard this past season in La Ventana and he had a ball...

So if you have ever used a big surfboard or a small sail board, let me know..

I just don't see why it wouldn't work even if it is really big...

poleboards are designed to have power from the sail, delivered via mast base..your feet deliver the power, kinda like 2 mast bases if you would.....

...you can use to kite, but it's less then ideal.

Surf boards are better because they are designed/shaped for two feet delivering steering forces....

I'm sure you'd have fun....waterstarts take a bit of getting used to (it's a lot like a windsurfing waterstart), and i doubt you'll be able to make use of the footstraps (because like posted earlier, there would be no pressure from the mast base to keep the nose down)

i doubt you'd actually want to use it for a lightwind kiteboard, (you're better off with a surfboard), but just to screw around with, hell, i'd try it.
