Don't risk your Nano. Get a Freestyle Audio waterproof MP3 player... the first and only. www.freestyleaudio.com

I purchased one a couple of months ago and it's great. I got the 512mb, but they have a 1g coming out soon. I was so impressed with its performance that I'm now handling sales for them in northern CA and NV.

I have an otterbox for my ipod and it will NOT leak. built and designed very well. Its not the box thats the problem, its the headphones. i have bought 3 manufacturers waterproof headphones and they all lack any bass. And as much as want to kill the guy listening to rap music at night, you gotta have some low end to enjoy your music and these have none. It is just an inherent problem with the way the make them waterproof, so unless you are listening to NPR you need to get normal headphones. For me the best choices are a cheap pair of sony sports headphones-the ones that cover your ears. The best choice is the sony fontopias, amazing all around sound very comfortable and seal in your ear BUT, they come out when the lines get yanked. This is where the wrap around headphones are nice. Also, get an armband as it keeps the cord distance to a minimum preventing tangling. I still think the fontopias are the best headphones you can get. Just dab some silicone over the air holes on the outside, it will mildly effect the sound but not even noticable. Hope that helps.

No problems with H2Oaudio box for my 3 gen iPod and have been using it for over 18 months.
The ear phones suck for sound quaily as discribed by WINDHORNY but I am still on my original H2Oaudio pair. They are designed well and it takes a major crash for them to come off.

Great news whorney & alkitea-- I would rather have the h20 audio but my budget says otterbox. I was planning on using regular-non waterproof headphones. They're only 7.99 at radioshak and if i lose'em or break'em--no loss. They may not sound that great--but What is really the difference between waterproof and non waterproof headphones? I've seen the h20 audio phones and after the rubber thing that goes into your ear-- they look just like ipod phones...

If your head never gets wet no regular head phones will work fine.

If the do get wet you will not hear them any more :)

I once used "sport water resistant" head phones and about 1/2 way through my session I could not hear them any more.

I learned a trick from at Jeff at "kite wind surf" that works well with my H2oAudio headphones and might work the non-waterproof kind.
If you tap the speakers it releases the water and the volume comes back.
