rrd hyper type

Post by windhorny » Wed Oct 04, 2006 1:40 pm

I think next season its gonna be RRD hyper types. But i still havent tried one. Anyone local got one I could play with or have some un biased descriptive reviews?

I woke up this morning to the first south winds of the season at Alameda, made me think how much it sucks riding a bow kite in gusty winter conditions. As nice as it is having the low end on my turbo diesel, I think I want to go more stable this time around-and without the pulleys. i have had 4 main lines break, a steering line, and a few leader lines. The link and the rebel dont seem to have that great a review and they either have 5 lines or just suck. Is it true that the 12 is the only thing available at this time?

Anyways, just thoughts about what the next best thing is. i am even open to the cabrinha 2's. I just want a super stable indestructable kite that has huge range, single point in flation, fast turning, explosive power, and stablitiy for riding unhooked.

Have you tried the Ozone Instinct... it has alot of everything you stated you were looking for:

'07 technology available now in all sizes
Super stable - possibly the most stable flat kite to date (hooked or unhooked)
No pulleys
Edelrid Dyneema lines - best lines going!
It's 5th line is for the trim and the anti-inversion system... it's not a safety line!
Nothing but positive un-biased reviews
Lots of power
Huge wind range
Bomber construction - Top-notch build quality and uses the best available materials... in addition Ozone is the ONLY kite mfg that owns their factory, so their QC is the best in the industry.

The only thing the Instinct does not have is a one-pump system. The reason is the struts need to be inflated to a higher PSI than the LE... this can't be acheived with a one-pump design.

The other trait about the Instinct is it's not the fastest turning kite, but it's also not the slowest. :yawinkle:

Contact me or Evan at Live2kite if you want to demo one.

I got to ask how a rep of a company can say he is un-biased?

You were ther when I tried the Instinct. I loved it. very smooth, I thought was pretty fast but it was a 9 on a nuking day. I just dont like all the spaghetti it has, regardless of safety. I would take a one pump and lose some performance-performance that most wouldnt know. I would also take the kite that is ready to fly in less time over a slightly better kite as I am one antsy SOB when the wind comes up. I did really like the ozones flying characteristics though, too bad. It was kinda like meeting the woman of your dreams and finding out she has 3 tits. Nice but kinda awkward.

When I was typing my response, I was thinking - didn't he already demo the Instinct... I could of sworn he had. Oops, I forgot #-o

Sorry she had too many tits for ya! Yes, it was akward at first, but now I'm used to her third tit and loving it. :supz:

You need to understand that I have never posted a review about the Instinct on any forum. I have posted information or addressed questions, but never have I described, from my experiences, how the kite performs.

The reviews on the Instinct are from non-bias users (not the company) who have had a chance to fly this kite... random people, from beginners to experts that are just expressing their good experience. Bottom line - the online reviews have been overwhelmingly very positive about this kite... and no bias bullsh*t!

Given these facts, you can now realize your question does not make sense.
