Kiting anywhere near Don Pedro or New Melones Lake?

Post by mayhem » Mon Oct 02, 2006 10:07 am

Hello Everyone, I'm going to be staying near Don Pedro Lake this coming weekend and was wondering if there are any kiting spots close by? Near Yosemite, New Melones Lake, Angels Camp...

Thanks,

Bring your fishing pole... Not much wind at either one of those spots. Woodward res. is your best bet in the area.. The best times are the day before or the day after a storm.. Have not had much luck with either lake.. Good luck..

New Melones

I keep a boat out at New Melones. I've tried to kite there several times never with any luck. Only once have I seen it kiteable and you can imagine I didn't have my kites. A fishing pole or a wakeboard is your best bet

Weather forcast for next weekend looks good... but not for wind :(

I always suggest that you bring all your kites, you never know and wouldn't you feel bad if it did blow and you left your gear at home..

ah yes, we own a ski nautique and have taken our boat to New Melones before but the conditions are never GREAT for wakeboarding cause it's too windy by the afternoon... that's a shame we can't kite there!

Shuttles available upwind from Pittsburg and Sherman all summer. Come see what kiting west has to offer.
