Talk about landing a kite, some of the students flying their 2m kites on the beach came close to cutting me as I walked my kite back up the beach (my kite was inverted and I was carrying it by hand). If the rules state no kite flying on the beach, then where is the line being drawn? 2.1m and up? Small kites can cause damage to humans as well, yet I don't seem to see the school/shack people stopping them from flying kites their. Or am I missing something?

Alameda has many issues as it relates to kiteboarding, not surprised to hear of the complaints coming in. In the 80s, if there was a dispute, the two parties in conflict would have break dance competition to resolve the conflict. Boy I miss the 80s, life was so much easier then, MTV and Pres. Reagan, gay bashing, Atari/Intellevision/Coleco Vision, Boy George, .. on second thought, maybe I don't miss it all that much...

I think eventually the existing LZ will be the only place that kites will be able to fly while on sand without a ticket, untell that is gone..

So imagine you are approached by a cop while walking your kite up the beach. What is he going to do, tell you to land it? Because if most beginners were really comfortable doing this they might have done it to begin with. SO...by asking a beginner to land their kites, they might actually be making more safety issues. Of course there is always the threat of the law.

And I think the family with the one line kite is a hazard sometimes too. We at least have control of ours, they just sit there like the sky garbage it is. You cant tell me you havent walked your $1500 kite up the beach and thought how pissed off you would be if it got tangled in a $5 piece of crap made in some retrofitted rubber dogshit factory.
