A kite surfing friend of mine just emailed me - he purchased a new SlingShot board from Craigslist just a few weeks ago, it's only been on the water a couple of times...here's his story:
Today was the day to leave work early wind pending and become one with the water once more...there however has been a slight glitch in that plan.
I think that there is a possibility that I have not been attaching my board to the roof rack in the required manner. This became apparent as my board was ripped from the roof at a steady 70mph. The rear mirror revealed a board sailing into the air in fact the most air it has ever experienced in its short life and then crashing back into the freeway. Luckily it was still in one piece if not a little scratched up. Thus stopped the car and ran toward it however not quite in time before the approaching traffic proceeded to pummel it on multiple occasions. She held up well but the 20 tonne truck was just too much for her!! The board is now ideal for travel as fits nicely into a suitcase as in multiple pieces.
Thus there will be a 1 minute of silence at midday for our loss...back to the craigslist quest...
