Hey, did you send it and jump 60' like LMG, sail out to the Olympic Circle, and flat-out ripped in the wake of a fishing boat or have a kitemare and get rescued on an ebb tide out past the Gate? Tell us about it.

1st time at emerypoint
To the guys who let me power there boat with my kite at emerypoint on mon. evening. Thanks for the experience and the confidence booster, no better way to start a new location...................5:00pm I sat for about an hour or so watching, waiting, waiting for what, i did'nt know if i was waiting for better wind , another kiter, or just to go home. just then some poeple pulled up and i thought, "hey i see a kite- and a boat-?" i went to greet these poeple and get a second opinion on the condition and mybe some help to launch my kite. all seemed well untill i noticed how light it really was, (down with the kite). By this time the guys had their boat on the beach and and their kite inflated. How did it feel?Light- I told one of the guys. I'm not sure what was said or what happened next but i found myself and two other guys heading out in their boat. One guy was in the front, the other in the back steering and me using my kite as a sail to pull the boat. All seemed to be going well, i could feel us heading out. Power up said the guy steering and power up i did and out of the boat we went, all three of use (splash) into the water tipping the boat. I can see their other two buddies laughing at us from shore. Back to shore we went to attemp a second try. By this time the the wind had gotten even ligher. I don't remember all there names but Thanks again for the experiance. That was my 1st time riding (sort of) at emerypoint..............

I'm not sure how briliant of an idea that was but I'm glad you had a good time. The only thing I can say for Pt. Emery is that if it looks like it isn't blowing then it really isn't blowing. Best way to tell if it's blowing is by how many kiters there are out. You could probably use the number of kiters as a gauge of how good it is. If nobody is out, you shouldn't be out either, if there is one kiter then you probably shouldn't be out. Three and above is where the gauge changes color to orange :). The guys with the boat are just crazy I think, I've seen them several times and it appears that it never goes the way I think it should, then again, I've never tried to haul three people behind my kite. I saw them at alameda once almost swipe someone taking a stroll on the beach when the kite's line wripped off and started slamming into the ground. If I were you I'd stay two kiteline lengths away.
