newest trick

Post by S.I. Rider » Wed Jul 05, 2006 8:59 pm

ok, enough talk about who's dog is pooping on your stuff, or who is parking in YOUR spot. lets hear some talk about what move you are killing yourself to land. what are you currently working on? for me it is doing all my old tricks on my new kite. i guess the unhooked tantrum is next, then the handlepass (bs 180, or mobe)

later,
rob

I spent this last weekend focusing on doing more unhooked moves, but haven't been into too much low-altitude wake style stuff, so have been working on doing many of the same big air tricks, just unhooked. Fishing pole loops, unhooked jump rotations. It seems like there's plenty of time in the air, so handlepasses may be next...

Rob,

I'm still working on the hooked-in tantrum you you were trying to teach me down in baja. I think I need to watch you do them a few more times

I think I need a trick glossary. Any good sources out there?

I'm still working on nailing the powered 720s. Backroll to spin/transition.

I want to do a backroll to toeside next, and also a frontroll, except I don't know how to initiate. Any hints?

Also, that glossary would come in handy.

Rob, what's your new kite?

It says 10M, but it's really a 9.

Paul,

I'm pretty sure the PKRA site pkra.org has a trick glossary...if not, search wakeboard tricks on Google...you'll find a wake site with all the tricks.

As to the two tricks you are working on, to initiate the frontroll just send a regular jump and at the point where you start bringing your kite back forward, throw your body over your head and keep looking towards your landing. For the roll to revert, initiate a backroll on your bad side but really whip it so you will over rotate. This one is really quite easy and will open up the door to many more tricks on your bad side.

sometimes Gary Bronson...

Front Roll initiation

Post by zgur » Thu Jul 06, 2006 5:10 pm

Paul,

To start a front roll, hooked in I think you care about, you:
1. ride powered with kite at 11 or 1, depending on direction of travel
2. Find a wave/chop to load and pop
3. Keep hands close together, by center of bar
4. As you release from "load n' pop", lift your front leg so that your knee is moving towards your chest. It's then followed by back leg.
5. Look over your back shoulder, spot landing, ride away happy ;-)

Basics which apply to all rolls/spins:
* to exit rotation, extend legs and pull w/front hand
* during move, helps to let the back hand go - this sets you up for nice board grabs down the road
* try to do the move without Whipping the kite, by just Load n' popping - key skill to have down the road.
* When things go wrong, let go of the bar (vs. pulling). You will be a lot less punished.

Trick list can be found here http://www.pkra.info/rules/trick_list_2005.htm

As always, enjoy the process of learning.

Get some, Z.

Focusing on the hooked-in backroll kiteloop currently....trying to get the nerve up to try a hooked-in backroll w/ a downloop.
