What Alameda has that 3rd ave doesn't...

Post by lmontejo » Sat Jun 24, 2006 8:12 am

Friday afternoon provided us at Alameda with a nice steady 10-12 mph breeze with very flat water. I kited some 2.5 hours with my Crossbow + Glide.

The tide was on the low side, and while heading upwind, I saw 4 bathers pretty far out.

I kited by, and to my surprise, they were 4 young women skinny dipping. They waved and I carried on...

Yuri, Charlie, where were you?

Now you know why Alameda kiters have had to develop low wind skills.

And no other witnesses? I say it was a kiting-induced hallucination. Just another one of kiting's many drug-like side effects.

Nice Job Leo, now everyone is going to move in on MY girls....

I want to add a few other skills that may improve at Alameda.
Cooping skills: no explaination needed, either learn to deal or go....
Jumping skills: generally mellow wind conditions give added confidence.
Jumping skills: CONTINOUS SANDY shorline adds to safty which in turn adds to confidence
Jumping skills: Bay Farm Island adds to safty becouse you know you will eventually end up on shore even with a TOTTALLY fouled up kite....Sorry I've failed to get the city to pump in another $50 million of sand to cover these rocks.... If your determined to end up here you'll be able to work on your self rescue skills which in turn will help you deal with all the other kited spots around the rock lined Bay Area....
Jumping skills: since we dont have to spend all day fighting a current determined to either drag us out to sea or deposite us on 'The Rock" or rocks as the case may be,,, we Alamedians jump to our hearts content...
The biggest down side to Alameda I've found is being distracted by ALL the topless hotties.....I've learned to use EXTREME CAUTION around toppless waders becouse it really hurts to crash on your boner! Besides chicks will think your a REAL KOOK if you splash them, also the locals can get kinda pissy if you scare THERE girls away....
The ONLY upside to knowing there are all those topless hotties watching you is you'll be prompted to REALLY work on your jumping skills which in turn provides the rest of us with HOURS AND HOURS and clean entertainment and you with a potential new girlfriend!
Alameda also happens to have the best kite shop and instructors in the bay area right across the street from that LONG SANDY beach covered with toppless hotties!
What more could kiters ask for....

I also find the biggest downside topless hotties. They never show up. And the wind too.

I don't remember leo saying they were hotties. From what I've seen most that bare all shouldn't, and those that should don't. Maybe in a party town or Flordia, but Alameda? I'm betting that they are the type that would do best covered up.

lol

I remember one day last year at Alameda, there were 3 women topless, not attractive AT ALL, but most interesting was the fact that the one in the middle had 2 band-aids on her left boob(my right) and whip cream on the other. I have reliable sources of verification for this. I still cant figure that one out. But yes, most you see topless in the bay area are not worth writing home about.

Although I have to say my man boobs are looking rather nice this time of year. Leo-back-off!

To set the record straight.

1. They were 18-20 years old.
2. A couple were rather attractive.
3. I did not hallucinate.
4. They were upwind of the launch, and since the X-Bow/Glide combination is hard to beat in 10mph winds, I was the only one up there. The TD's were way downwind - where they belong...

Maybe 1 and 2 are the reasons you went upwind so well. As for 3, need more evidence. :)

OK - let's keep it to ourselves...

And fortunately its all upwind, so the newbies won't be an issue. Yuri is the real problem here, but fortunately he's into handle passes these days and therefore ends up downwind most of the time.

But Charlie - he's the one I'm worried about. With a Vegas and a Glide, he can do some serious damage.
