Arn't we a little full on the kite makers at this point. Man they just keep coming. Everyone wants in on the game but they just keep the prices high because there is too much competition. If there were only three or so comapanies they could mass produce and lower the price.
sounds like you are in the kite business and worry about your margin?

Typically as more competition as lower the price ! Thats the basic law of free market economy. Just think back to the days before Best came in and lowered the price by 50%. The early kites were s*&t (who remembers delamination of the first two naish years!!!) and wonderful expensive. Much better now, mainly through competition...

more to come. G
I'm actually not in the business but I do know bussiness really well. The problem with too many knock off kites is that big name companies can not mass produce because they can not move their product and there is huge compitition for the supplys that make the product. I know this has been discussed before but look at computer companies. There are now only Dell, IBM and HP in the intel space. Years ago the average Intel server was $10,000 grand becuase everyone and their mother was selling servers. Now the large companies can mass produce these systems with little competion and huge discounts. It's not apples for apples comparison but I think we will see the market slim down to only a few kite companies very soon. This also happened in snowboarding. The sport exploded and everyone was making boards. Now look at how many snowboard brands are left. I hope it happens sooner then later in kiting!

I think this year is very good for the kite companies. They are producing in full speed and there is a material shortage. Flysurfer and Best for example, make batches of production in different colors, depending on what they can get their hands on at that moment. At least that's how they explain the colors explosion. You also have to wait quite a while for some models due to high demand.

With all the bow mania, I guess the prices will stay high this season, at least for the companies that came out with good products.
