found this on kiteforum.
Death at Washoe Lake.

I only did this to remind us all how powerful mother nature is and how we have to continue to be safe and help others.
I was at 3rd ave last year holding that guys bleeding head til the parametics came.

I was at 3rd ave last year when a guy was about to launch his buddy wrong and he would not listen to me and refused to believe me when I continued to say he was lined up wrong. My persistence won out and WE launched his buddy right...and I still was told by his launcher that I was wrong as the kite slowly floated up to noon in a picture perfect launch, and this guys life was saved in my opinion. I did the right thing, but it was hard not to walk away and say "fine...go ahead and get hurt"

I maintain that yelling at people does not work, walking up and talking or in my case I sent a guy to the launcher while I held his buddy and we would not allow the guy to launch till it was right. it sucks that this is the case now and then, but sucks worse that another kiter has passed away.

I am saddened by this news, and count my blessings.
