ok, so pulling rocks is like pulling teeth here. No rock removal, I get it! Just trying to help make it a safer beach.

If you can get it cleared by the parks/city, I'll help.

The parks seem to have the machinery to do it, so you have to wonder why it hasn't already been done?

p.s. Assuming you get authorization to move the rocks, where are you going to move them?

Why not just dig holes next to the rocks and roll them in?

Dewey, that is actuyally a really good idea if you ask me! Nice thinking. Perhaps I will ask the city if there is a purpose. i just dont think there is because they wouldnt use jagged rosks like that, i dont think. But the idea of digging the holes is fucking brilliant! the simplest idea is always the best. Anyone down to go drink some beer and dig some holes next low tide? i can make some pry bars at the shop that have a plate on the bottom so they wont sink in the soft mud.

Charlie was right, think about the big pipe.... The cement blocks are to protect the mouth of the pipes and to surport the intake grates...
Getting premission to remove those rocks is VERY unlikely.
If you've ever seen a pipeline trench back-filled you will see that rocks are used to protect the pipe from breakage due to future excavation.
If you plead your case to the right people you may get the parks to remove the rocks for safty sake...
Talk to Anne Rockwell of the parks dept...
What I think would be fun would be to make a sand berm over the rocks to make nice little waves at high tides and BUTTTTTer on the back side on the low tides....

Or those artificial reefs like in Australia. Big sand bags on top of the offending rocks and pier remnants.

Greg, we can use that plastic I gave you and make a wall. It seems the general concensus is to leave the rocks alone. So let it be done!

I think this is a really good idea, I would have no reservations about donating my time to get this done.
lets talk to the parks dept. and find out what can be done.

If in doubt, do it.

After cooling down on the idea a bit I was thinking of a possible side effect this might have on us. I was thinking, worst case scenario, the person(s) we asked for permission to do this would see it as a way of trying to take over the beach. Any thoughts on that? I would hate to have the city think we were trying to monopolize the beach, even though it is out in the water it is still a modification that is essentially for the kiters.
