Stolen gear in San Jose

Post by doubledogdare » Sat Mar 11, 2006 12:03 pm

Unfortunately someone stole my Truck with all my Kite gear and snowboards right from the front of my house. Bummer way to start off the day after my birthday(I'm still feeling sick in my stomach). Anyway, if anyone has any leads on the gear SJPD and I would much appreciate it. Here's the list.

-2004 Toyota Tacoma (silver) with shell and yakima bike racks
-Crossbow 7 yellow
-Crossbow 9 blue
-Crossbow 12 blue
-Naish 6m SE
-Slingshot B3
-Dakine Nitrous black, med
-Dakine Pyro red, med
-Dakine womans seat, sm
-Oneill psycho II
-Oniell shortie
-Oniell xs womans wetsuit
-Airrush Xpact board
-Naish Bar/lines (4 line s/u) from my old X3
-Burton T6 162 with p1hd bindings
-Salamon Ivy 144 with drake bindings
-Lifelink pack (purple/black) with lifelink telescopic poles and 2 pair of northern light snowshoes (green)
-Oniell booties 2 pair
-Prolimit booties
-Kestrel 2000 anemometer

Yeah, they pretty much cleaned me out. Thats pretty much all my gear that I can remember, not to mention all the other junk I had in the truck. Anyway, any leads would be much appreciated.
On the bright side, I still got my old C kites but no lines

Sounds like what happened to Z. in the fall. Can it be that there is some scumbag in the BA who is targeting pickup trucks full of kite and snow gear?

Sorry to hear that, sounds like a nice collection.

This is one of my biggest fears. One could steal my truck and I would be bummed but take my kite gear and I would go Psycho!
I feel for you, Mike. You might want to systematically check on craig's list and ebay for your stuff. There can't be too many ways for a thief to get rid of this stuff.

That sucks! Hopefully your name is on the gear.

That's why I always make the effort to schlep the stuff into the garage no matter how tired I am post-sesh.

There is hope:
Last year a Berkeley windsurfer had his van stolen with all of his gear inside. A couple weeks later two guys showed up at the Berkeley Marina trying to sell some windsurfing gear out of the back of a truck. Some quick minded people parked their car to block the truck and went to call the cops who came and arrested the fools.

Also had a buddy in SF who had his boards swipped off his racks. Never recovered, but he had insurance that enabled him to get two better boards.

Hope your story has a happy ending.

I appreciate everyones concern and I espceially know how Zeev felt to find his truck and gear gone. Fortunatly winter is still going strong and I got a good buddy that gave me his extra snowboard. Unfortunately, I won't be able to try out the sowkiting thing for a while. It looks like my homeowners insurance will come through for most of my losses and it should take a couple of weeks. My auto insurance will be covering my truck.
I unfortunately didn't mark my gear but things will soon be changing. Spring is just around the corner and I got that and the summer to look forward to.

Anyway, good winds to all.
