hey guest who posted the suunto gps watch. Just an FYI i read in the forums on motionbased that they don't support the suunto watches as well as garmin. just thought i mentioned that before you or someone else put down 5 benji's on that.

Blair, what are you doing? Are you going up to the snow soon or what?

Ollie,
It sounds as if you are going to ground me, like i am in trouble :-)
Yeah i was talking w/ pablito to go up on sunday. We were looking for other takers. I'm wondering if there is enough snow. I won't be taking my good board that is for sure.

I was the one who posted the info on the SUUNTO device.
In ebay, the SUUNTO is $385... We need to find what sotware we need to display its output.
At any rate, the device looks incredible for kiting!

Even with the newest consumer-grade GPS systems, the altitude is the weakest measurement in terms of accuracy (think of the math here), so it's unlikely that you could discern much from the altitude measurements. Given the uncertainty in position to begin with, anything but the highest jumps might well be within the error limits of the reading. You could probably do better triangulating with video cameras on precision mounts. ;D
