I didn't post the original thread URL: http://www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2322720

Starting to get some interesting discussion going, including:

WOW Josh that was cool. Looks like a video game.
There are paragliders by the way, not kites. The big difference between a paraglider and a kite is the line length, when you have long lines of a kite you are swinging underneath it like a pendulum.

Any semnozkitesurfing.com tour movie from 04 is amazing, specifically Silvaplana and Guielo (if I spelled it right). I think they don't have them any more, I can try to email that, its pretty big.

There is one that the guy is carving a wall side to side (rather than upside down) where he leans so backward that the board is above his head, so he is upside down carving against the power of the kite above him. They totally abuse the terrain and gravitation going up, down sideways, any direction.

Crush and burn movies:

The notoriously violent flexifoil blade:

Sometimes you just need to let go of the kite.

And kicking your legs frantically accomplishes what?

I want to know what happened after that video ended. It looks like the next thing he was going to hit was one of those parked cars.

There is definitely a link between kites and paragliders.

A lot of foil kites are actually made by paraglider companies. Ozone and Flysurfer are the most famous ones, but also Advance, PKD, MACÖ
I think flysurfer is just a brand name for their kites.

Flysurfer kite designer Armin Harich was a German pargliding champion. He still tests the FS kites as paragliders using paraglider harness. I read somewhere that since people are getting huge airs on the snow jumping from cliffs with kites, they actually need to test the safety of the kites in flight.

They even have a new model which is a kite/praglider mutant, called "Taco" Special NorCal edition will be called "Taco de Pollo" :)

This is Armin testing one of the kites as a paraglider:
