I didn't know he was a hunter. Fisherman yes, but hunter?
Reminds of a Swiss guy I met a while back who came here to study and was on the Ski Team at the University in Utah. Seems they had a party trip or something and the coach had been trying to pick up on some girls or something so all some of the guys on the team were calling him "Beaver Hunter." Well, the Swiss guy thought that was his nickname and that was what they always called him. So for some time, well after the trip was over, he kept saying "Hey Beaver Hunter!" and stuff like that until he said it in public in front of a lot of people and the coach took him aside and was like, "Dude, really, enough with the Beaver Hunter already."
But he didn't know, he just thought that was really his nickname...

Beaver hunting is best left to the next generation I'm afraid. Although I have bagged a few pelts in my day...
Another powered 16 day yesterday. It seems like the most fun to be had right off this beach is on a normal sized kite with a directional wave board. (Wave-off, Bob?) I saw the local instructors just killing it on a North Rocketfish and a Stretch Trow Directional. The back-and-forth kiting is not quite as exciting as their approach. They grind upwind way outside and then return to the shore-break for down-the-beach "wave" (breaking wind swell) slashing. Looks pretty fun but I don't have it wired yet since it's basically a series of linked turns directly down wind. (It also doesn't favor the Left-Coast wave students like yours truly.)
Planning the 6-mile downwinder today with a few other guests-- more to come! One week under my belt and a week to go. Then, Christmas shopping?

Dave:
I would love to bring the wave-off, but with 4 boards to bring for the fam, I can just imagine airline hassles if I try to add that stick to the bag. Same for a skim, which would be a kick in that shore break.
Have you gone downwind from Baja Joes about 300 yards to the better break? We had some fun surfing last time I was there on that peak, and the Caution team would head straight downwind to that peak for their sesh...I have some pics on my laptop at home I could try to post..

You guys are killing me. I've been dry for too long. It's so bad that my wife told me to get a wetsuit and my kites already. I also informed here that I may be going on a Mexcio trip next year. All I do is dream about kiting, and all I talk about is how everyone is in Mexcio.
I need a drink!!!

Okay Dewey, I finally figured out your strategy:
1) Deprive self of kiting for months to prove love for spouse.
2) Simultaneously talk about kiting the entire time.
3) Drive spouse completely insane.
4) Paradigm flip. Instead of feeling guilty yourself for kiting rather than spending time with spouse, make spouse feel guilty (or simply annoyed).
5) Result: "Honey, you need a new wetsuit and some kites." Translation: "Get the hell out of my house, you're driving me nuts!"
Dude, you should write a book. Every kiter married to a non-kiter would buy it.

All this talk about drinking has me longing for another beer (or seven). There is no shortage of drinking partners down here that's for sure. Although the serious wind has cut into the party time-- everyone's in bed by nine!
Rode the Stretch and the 13 on the downwinder yesterday for 3 hours. Unreal open-water swell-riding. Massive boosting. Toe-side galore. Poleboarders shredding. Jacked on adrenaline and ready to go again for the drive to the Hot Springs-- I'm spoiled now and don't want to pinch upwind ever again.
Bob, I have seen the break downwind of here and will consider that next time I don't drive North. Sorry to hear about the Wave-off fitting in the bag, but they do have a Cabal skimboard here for guests to use. Only 5 days remain and then back to reality. See you in the 5mm wetsuit at a beach near you! Have you purchased my Christmas present yet?
Sorry to hurt the windless but I was thinking you may just want to get on a plane and join us!

funny result of winter drinking, no time on the water, no real snow yet, and not quite enough mt. bike rides.....someone came around and shrunk my belts and pants! What the hell? I have to get something going before heading south, or I will have to go one kite size large like Dave!
Say Dave - how are you making all of these posts, anyways? Borrowing a laptop....did you bring one? Where is the connection? Not that I really want to think about work when I am down there, but like you say, everything shuts down at 9...
