Has any body been kiting on Berryesa, Sonoma or Mendicino Lakes. I know Mendicino was popular with windsurfers when I used to waterski there about 10 years ago.

I live by Berryessa. I have never tried to kite there, though I probably will someday. It's a long drive from anywhere, even for me and I live only 5 miles away (winding roads).
They are all mountain lakes, which makes for funky wind. Launching, too, is an issue because there are no real beaches and lots of trees.

That is what I assumed about the funky winds. Like I said Mendicino had a lot of windsurfers but maybe funky winds are not so important to them. Mendicino has a nice beach as I remember.
It is obvious that we can no more explain a passion to a person who has never experienced it than we can explain light to the blind. T.S.Eliot
