windy in november?

Post by Grandmasterflash » Wed Oct 21, 2009 10:19 am

hello to all,

some words of introducing. I'm from Austria kiteboarding since more than 4 years.
allready had the change to kiteboard in NYC, nearby to Washington DC and Hatteras.

So it's usual that I take my gear with me when I'm on a business trip to the states.

I've been two years ago at your bay but without kitegear as I tought I could rent smth but without success. This time I'll not make the same fault BUT
I'll be their for 3 days in the mid of november. The information I got is that the chance is about 40%.

Is it worth to take the gear with me, BA want's me to pay 150 bucks or is their a possibilitie to rent kitestuff - HifiComp would be the best?

thanks for your answers.

Hi,

Unfortunately your chance of wind in November is way less than 40%. It's only storm winds this time of year and they are unreliable.

Sorry

I know that you are not a beginner, but this thread will probably answer most of your questions.

thanx for your replies, the only decision I made know is to leave my 12 for sure at home and pack also the 7 if I would take my quiver with me - I rather prefer to kite with my stuff but is their any possiblity for a rental?

It's probably very hard to find a place where you can rent a kite because of liability issues.

san francisco san pablo suisun bay and the west delta-
230 am pst fri nov 13 2009

today
nw winds 5 to 10 kt...becoming w 10 to 20 kt in the
afternoon.

tonight
w winds 10 to 20 kt.

sat
nw winds 5 to 15 kt.

sat night
nw winds 5 to 15 kt...becoming w 5 kt after
midnight.

sun
s winds 5 kt...becoming w in the afternoon and evening...
then...becoming s after midnight.

mon
ne winds 5 kt...becoming w after midnight.

tue
se winds 5 kt...becoming sw 5 to 15 kt.
slight chance of rain.

I would say no chance of wind if not a good storm builds up somewhere in between. No rental here in the area due to the liability. If U need a ride out here and you can get my old Cs for a spin. I still have 13 9 7 and an old woody 130. PM me if you so desperately need it. I dont see it coming though.

If you are coming to San Francisco in November, Leave your kites at home.
Take a cruise around the bay on a Horn Blower Yacht. Cruise the city and look for wonderfull restaurants the make all of proud to be from the bay. Look at our unique architecture, Amazing view and vistas.

If you come to the SF bay in mid June bring everithing you got and hold on from an amazing kiting experience. :)

Kiting at Sherman 11-17-09 1c.JPG
Well, we got just enough wind yesterday to go kiting at Sherman. A smooth 11-14 miles per hour on my 14m; enough for a baby F-16. 4:00 pm and the ebb was just starting. It was actually pretty comfortable -no gloves needed! Thanks to Ken from Utah for the photos.
